Review of Manhattan Express @ New York, New York

The Manhattan Express is really a massive coaster to behold as its taxi-themed trains careen all around the New York hotel and casino. Unfortunately, this is a Togo creation, so it has its faults. Two drops start this ride (the second one being the bigger of the two), then a vertical loop. The turns connecting these elements are somewhat banked yet for some reason still head-banging. Then there is the heartline roll, which is the best maneuver on this ride. I enjoy flipping and traveling upside down for a bit. However, we then reach the midcourse brakes and, though the ride is far from over, its pretty much done from there. We slow down so much that the train barely makes it over all of the bunny hops (and there are several of them). There is therefore zero airtime whatsoever. There are a couple turns and a spiral that also get executed at extremely slow speed. Unlike the normal horseshoe-collar over-the-shoulder restraints, this one uses OTSRs that ratchet down on you, so they sit right on your shoulders. You therefore not only bump your head back and forth, but you bang your shoulders up and down constantly as well. This is also the most expensive ride in Vegas (the most expensive stand-alone coaster Ive ever come across). Its hard for me to knock any coaster too much, and I dont mind a little roughness from a coaster, but it needs to be worth it. The first half of the ride was worth it, but the second half was not, so I wont be paying $12.50 to experience this one all that often.
