This is the coaster that started the second revolution in the hypercoaster market. Superman ROS was the first hypercoaster built by Intamin and introduced the world to a whole new sort of hyper.Intamin developed a fabulous train specifically for its megacoasters, and S:ROS was the first to sport it. Featuring an ultra-smooth ride, simple lap bars and stadium seating, there was no such thing as a bad seat. While recent modicifations for safety may have tamed the ride slightly, it is still not to be reckoned with. This particular S:ROS has a very good setting. As you ascend the lift you are given a birds-eye view of the surrounding wilderness as well as the hotel/lake/campground to the right. As you crest the hill you are treated to a very steep first drop and subjected to fantastic ejector air, primarily in the back. The first drop is not followed by another hill, rather, but a sharply-banked left-hand turn just feet above the shores of one of the parks many lakes. The ride then crests a major hill and the negative Gs once again control the rider. From there you drop into a 540o helix thta is more intense and taken at higher speeds than it appears, and it ends with a very good headchopper. From there you are sent darting to one of the best moments available on any coaster: the second air hill. This hill, taken at breakneck speeds, gives some insane airtime. From there you are sent into another glass-smooth, lateral-filled helix and up into a wonderful little s-shaped airtime hill that just combines all sorts of forces into one great element. From there the ride is about over and only a few very good bunny hops are between you and the brakes.Overall, this Superman is very fun and a good example of a hypercoaster. Though the restraints have been changed a few times (fyi I liked these newest ones better than the ones from 04) this coaster still reigns among the supreme airtime machines and will be loved for years to come.
