Review of Jim Hensons Muppet Vision 3D @ California Adventure

This is a pretty entertaining show, though it is not quite as good as the other 3-D show at DCA (Tough to Be a Bug). The reason being is that Muppets is more of a 3-D film rather than a 4-D experience like Bugs. I am not saying that there are not some 4-D effects. There is a slight water spray, and bubbles fall from the ceiling at one point when they are blowing bubbles on the screen (admittedly a nifty and unique effect), but that is about the extent of it. However, the show is pretty funny, especially if you like the Muppets. This is sheer Muppets mayhem, lunacy, and chaos from beginning to end. Statler and Waldorf, seated in the balcony of the theater for the duration rather than being in the film itself, are hilarious, and all of the Muppets characters are really quite entertaining. However, I do have a complaint with the new animated character, Waldo, that was created for this show. He is incredibly annoying and all of his scenes pretty much fall flat because they are completely unnecessary. I really wish the Muppets show consisted of just Muppets and no Waldo, but what can I do? I know. I can give Muppets 3-D an 8 rather than the 9 that I would have without him. I am not exactly sure what the future holds for the Muppets during the California Adventure overhaul. I would not be at all surprised to see the removal of the Muppets, as the show is never very crowded at all. Then again, most of the shows at DCA are not very crowded, and while some are going (Golden Dreams), some are staying (Bugs). I have heard that this one could be replaced by the Philharmagic show that also plays at the Magic Kingdom at WDW, but that is just a rumor at this point, so anything could happen I suppose.
