Review of Millennium Force @ Cedar Point
0 Rating Posted by: Shorty on 7/23/2002 5:58:00 PM
It was a great ride, but way overrated. If only there was a midcourse brake run and a trip back to the island to make the thing longer. Three train run would make the wait in line, so much better. I did enjoy the ride, but it was missing something.

A MCBR on Millennium Force would defeat the whole purpose of its design. Its designed so the feeling of speed doesnt let up until the very end.

Good Review. After The first Drop Millenium Force is a great ride but its just over rated.

oh you think Im over rated huh.... Well do get take it out on me because millenium force has a bunch of strait track. I never said it was a bad ride. Its a great ride but its just over rated. There are better coasters.

This whole "too much straight track" bit is preposterous. To settle it, Id like everyone to take a look at the image featured here:
http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill/millennium/layout.cfm.
As you can see, the only straight track is going into the final overbanked turn and back into the station. Now, if you go here:
http://www.angelfire.com/nh/scubanrollercoasters/images/sroslayout2.jpg
you will see that we have straight track after the turn proceeding the forth hill as well as the banked turn in the tunnel. The rides appear to have the same amount of straight track. Perhaps S:ROS even has MORE! GASP! Now that thats settled..... by the way; I only make the Superman comparison because that was the big topic of discussion in other reviews and posts... not this one....sorry!

I get the impression from other posts on this board that by "straight track" people dont mean literally track that goes straight. What I think they mean is areas of track that arent doing a lot.

ILoveWood is right for the most part. Millenium force is a great coaster but it could be better than it is. After the 1st drop the layout is very simple. I accessed the link you put up and I think some of the features are exaggerated but check this out Millenium force has more than one section of strait track.
http://badnitrus.coasterbuzz.com/coasters.asp?id=16

And for the record superman has NO strait sections of track. See for yourself.

That Badnitrus image of Millennium Force actually isnt exactly accurate. It highly exaggurates the ammount of straight track at the end. Compare it to this actual image:
http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery594.htm?Picture=10
and you can see that there is only a small section of straight track.

Exactly; the track on MF that appears to be straight is actually banked.

I think that the only way to know a coaster is to ride it. In many cases images and drawings are misleading or incorrect. Even looking at a coaster might not give a true indication of what the ride is like. Im sure that many of us have been on coasters that look better or worse than they appear.
Alfungus on 8/2/2002 2:49:19 PM said:
Yeah and even if it is straight for whatever parts your talking about. Your STILL going like what? 90 mph? who cares if its straight for like 2 feet this ride is awesome
daptwa on 8/2/2002 3:37:33 PM said:
I agree with you. I have it as my second favorite ride. This ride is incredible it has ridiculous speed some air and the best first drop ever created. Dont get me wrong Ithink the ride is incredible. Only thing Im saying is that it could have just a little more of something. Ive only ridden it once but thats what I left the ride feeling.
bb_dg on 8/3/2002 11:26:15 AM said:
like alfungus said, that straight track at the end of MF doesnt seem like much because you are still going 60+ mph and i think its necessary to the design. the whole point of this ride was to have tons of speed all throughout the ride. this small straight section allows the rider to get a true sense of speed because its low to the ground and is right next to the hundreds of people in line.

All i can say is MF is a great ride and everybodys taste varies in what they like best. I dont think any ride itself will satisfy someone who has to have it their way or they complain. Is someone in search of the PERFECT coaster? I wish people would quit their B...in and just have fun. Kids will be kids i guess, i am not.
