The Maliboomer probably provides the highest thrill that you will find at DCA. It is however a Disney thrill. Its about a180 foot plunge as compared to the 254-foot plunge of Supreme Scream at Knotts Berry Farm, located a few miles up I-5 from Disney. It also doesnt leave you hanging at the top for 6 seconds like most others do which tends to freak out some first time riders. Also, unlike some of the others, which hoist you up to the top very slowly, this thing shoots up with a burst of compressed air, leaves you floating in your seat for about a second and drops you back to earth. As for the dreaded scream shields: Since Disney tries to be a good neighbor, the scream shields are there to comply with the citys nighttime noise abatement regulations. As is the case with the tunnels on California Screamin. However the scream shields are positioned far enough away from you that they really are not obnoxious. In fact, most of the people that I spoke with in the line didnt even realize that was their purpose. Most people thought they were some kind of windshield to keep the wind or bugs out of your face. Maybe Disney should have called them windshields instead of scream shields and people wouldnt be so annoyed by them. Overall, this is a good ride. Its not the most thrilling of the S&S turbo towers but its still lots of fun. Even if you have acrophobia, you should be okay on this ride.
