Not quite a 10 but still an amazing ride.. that is how Id describe Mystery Mine. The theming is really good, and I was surprised how well it is inside. I found the storyline to be a bit easier to follow opposed to similar coasters like the Mummy. I wont spoil the ride, but the combination of various effects with the ride itself was outstanding. It truly is well-executed. The ride itself, however, is where I was really impressed. The ride is pretty sweet, the visible drop gave some unexpected air, and the little ground-hugging turns tossed in a little bit of g-force. The ending, however, is where the ride makes its memory last. The barrel roll into the dive is just awesome, both in terms of sensations and thrill factor. Its a great ending. The ride as a whole is great, and I hope it stays smooth unlike some other Gerstlauers, as mentioned previously. Its a real winner and judging by the lines, a good investment for the park. I just updated my Mitchs ballot and penciled in Mystery Mine as my #15 steel coaster, and having been on more than 200 of them, that places it in the top 10%. I liked the ride and all, but didnt realize on a quantitative basis until I stacked it up against all the other coasters. WOW that is awesome, and at a park with one of my favorite woodies too. Thank you Dollywood for becoming even more amazing, with this new quality thriller, and IOAs lack of expansion, Im really thinking it may be my favorite park now. Kudos, and Ill be back soon update - after some more rides a few months later, I have to lower the score a bit due to some roughness.
