Review of Top Scan @ Adventureland
2 Rating Posted by: Cyclonic on 11/13/2004 9:10:00 AM
If you want a totally insane ride, you will find it in this Top Scan. This thing flips you up and down and all over the place, giving you a confussing (but fun) array of laterals and G forces, and even some moments of airtime. Truely one of the most intense flats anywhere.

What makes this ride better then others of its kind? Well, there is no preprogramed setting here, the ride op determines how the ride is run, which gives it a different ride everytime. And most of the ops are purely evil in running the ride, making sure you get a long, intense, and even nausiating experiance. Really, no words can describe this ride, but it truely is one of the best flats I have ever been on.

Out of curiousity, has the recent accident changed your mind about the ride at all?
Canobie Coaster on 9/5/2005 10:54:39 AM said:
Im curious about that too. I expect a few people will drop Top Scans rating by 1 or 2 points, because of the accident.
BobFunland on 9/5/2005 11:28:09 AM said:
Why, the ride still kicks ass! Just because there was an accident doesnt have to effect the rating, at least if you had some logic up in your noggin. Look at how many rides have ha accidents but still have high ratings: Goliath, Dragster, Kingda Ka, insert just about any Disney ride, Batman the Ride, Superman ROS...

Good point, but I have noticed, that some people lower the rides rating for a little while, then forget about the accident, and raise it back to what they originally had.

The ride threw the lady into a parking lot. That scares the hell out of me. I dont know about you all.
Hercules on 9/5/2005 11:51:42 AM said:
Ok, so, the lady would give the ride a 1 (if she were still alive I guess), but Cyclonic gave it a 10 because it was an awesome ride. Cyclonic didnt get thrown into the parking lot, so I guess he had a good time. Unless he likes that kind of thing, but Im sure he doesnt.
WAR2174 on 9/5/2005 11:56:04 AM said:
I was just askig Cyclonic what he thinks. I dont give a crap what he makes the rating.

King Yoshi you have been on this site for 5 weeks how could you possibly verify that statement you made in post 4.

I became a member in mid-July this year, but I had visited the site various times since early 2004.

ok though I seriously doubt that any critic, especially the credible ones do that. I mean I have rode several rides that have had accidents and have never let that effect my rating. Heck my car got hit by another car on the mad mouse at MIA and that didnt even effect my rating.
Horizons12 on 9/5/2005 11:49:11 PM said:
I wouldnt drop my rating at all after an accident. The ride had an unfortunate incident happen on it, but the ride is still going to be just as good afterwards. The Wildcat at Keansburg Amusement Park had an accident several years ago where a car slammed into another after the brakes failed. Will I go on it again? YES! Did I give it a good rating? I sure did!

Too many people, even other entusiasts, dont seem to realize that NOTHING is completely safe. Everytime I go on a ride I wonder if something will happen. Course I also wonder that in my car, crossing the street, etc.
Cyclonic on 9/6/2005 6:59:07 AM said:
No, I am not going to change the rating. I stand by my opinion that this is one of the best flat rides out there.
WAR2174 on 9/6/2005 1:38:18 PM said:
Thanks, thats all I wanted to know. There was really no need for all this other crap.
Hercules on 9/6/2005 1:58:59 PM said:
Well sorry, we just figured that we would give our thoughts on the situation and basically tell you what Cyclonic was going to say before he even said it. When did I turn into the local asshole to everyone?
Canobie Coaster on 9/6/2005 2:56:11 PM said:
Youre right, because I checked. The only people who lowered the rating because of the accidents, were people who were on them at the time.
coaster05 on 9/6/2005 3:12:56 PM said:
If you were on it that makes perfect since, because a review is based on your experience. I do think lots of "shaky" reviewers claim they were on rides during accidents. Check out the keelboats at magic kingdom for a good example.
Canobie Coaster on 9/6/2005 3:21:18 PM said:
Good point, the people usually only lower the rating, if they were involved in an accident.
Horizons12 on 9/6/2005 4:45:32 PM said:
To what coaster05 said about people thinking that some rides are 100% safe: Its true that none of them are completely safe; the thought of my safety bar opening or my car being flung from the ride breifly cross my mind everytime I go on a ride (wonderful thoughts huh? ). Its just that the chances of it happening are very slim.

Hercules, dont get your panties in a wad, bro. Did I call you any names? No. I had a simple question for Cyclonic about a ride that killed someone. I dont know him personally like I guess you do. I appreciate all ideals. If you still like the ride, thats cool. The ride killed a person in a particularly gruesome way. I am just curious. I just had a simple question, it felt like people thought I was stupid for asking. If that is wrong, I apologize for my attitude. That is the problem with typing, you cant see a persons face or emotion and it is hard to fully understand something sometimes. If we were standing next to each other we probably would have had a perfectly nice conversation about it. And that goes back to the "two trains issue". I come in peace my friend. Just like talking theme parks, thats all.

Sometimes, I worry about safety harnesses coming off on some rides, but only a few, like the Power Surge. However, I understand, that the chances, of a safety harness coming off, are very slim.

It wasnt just you WAR, it was just a bunch of things that have been going on around here and on other sites that are making me consider not coming around anymore. Thats all. Nothing against you or anything.
Canobie Coaster on 9/6/2005 7:27:03 PM said:
Hercules, I dont want you to leave the site, and not coming around anymore, but you can do whatever you want.
coaster05 on 9/6/2005 10:13:09 PM said:
Herc dont even think about leaving. Be true to who you are and dont worry about it. I think most people enjoy what I have to say, but I also know I have been on the opposite side of the issue also which has brought out negativity on their side and mine. If you have an opinion someone will always have an opposing view. If they cant seperate who you are as a person from your opinion on a certain issue then screw em.
