Review of Raptor @ Cedar Point

By giving this ride an 8 I am saying that it is a good inverted coaster. Nothing less, nothing more. However, I expected to be giving this ride a 10. I did not enjoy this ride as much as some other inverts. The first drop and the loop right after were fine, and the inline twist was my favorite part of the ride. After that I thought that it had some problems. It took the cobra roll too fast I thought. The MCBR was pointless. If its hardly going to apply brakes at all, why even have it? The corkscrews were kind of nice and the last helix gave some nice Gs. My main problem with the ride was the very end. It really stopped very short at the end and created a lot of headbanging. It wasnt just me, as many other people said the same thing. Maybe it was because I sat near the back? This ride is a good layout though and in the greatest park in the world, so Im giving it an 8. Its not nearly the coaster that Montu was though.

I noticed some bad headbanging at the very end last summer when I rode Raptor and I was in the second row. Im not sure whats causing it, but it wasnt like that a couple yrs ago. As for the breakrun, they used to slow the train down and then for whatever reason decided to turn it off. Im not positive but I guess that could be one of the reasons the last break before the station is so rough now.

I agree with you benleibo about Montu; just from the pics, Montu aces Raptor, and Im sure thats the case when you actually ride them too (Ive ridden Montu, not Raptor yet though).

Yeah, there was some serious headbanging last year. I rode a couple times in the front in different seats. The harsh breaking is the worst part of the ride.

I didnt get any headbanging when I rode last year, but thats just me. Goood review. Its rare that people state the exact reasons for their ratings. Nice job.

I thought the Gs in the last helix were painful, the most INTENSE ride element Ive ever experienced.

It was VERY intense. Not very painful, but I see what you mean. Hulks launch would be the most intense element in my book. What was annoying is the helix pushed you back into your seat, and then the brakes kicked in very short, throwing you forward into the restraints.

Raptors helix is very intense. That was why I loved it though. I do remember the brakes. YIKES!
