Review of Millennium Force @ Cedar Point
1 Rating Posted by: AtomDragon on 7/29/2002 9:02:00 AM
I finally made it to Cedar Point! This coaster looks great from the ground. The first drop was breathtaking! There were moments of air time but I have had more from other coasters. The layout was not as good as coasters like Superman: Ride of Steel at SFNE but the first hill is unbeatable.

I like this review. I havnt been on Millenium Force before, so for me to rate it would be unfare. But at this point, I agree completly. This rides looks like it has excellent speed and height. But the design as a whole is flawed. The drop is most likley the best on earth, and this is why people like it. People who rate it rave over the drop. They dont have anything to say about the rest. Two hills and four overbanked hills just isnt enough. The airtime appears weak or "floater" in quality. Straight track isnt a huge problem like some others have expressed. It just needs more. After the drop, the layout has problems.
Of course, I may change my mind with a ride on it.

My pet peeve: people who judge MF without riding it. The design isnt flawed in the least bit. They designed it mainly for speeds and thats exactly what you get. They could have built a 300 foot S:ROS but thats just a bigger verrsion of Magnum. This has all been said countless times before, so Ill stop now.

no thats my peeve too but i hate the word peeve

Fair enough. My opinion isnt etched in stone so, you never know. I just like airtime better than speed, and I wish they could have added a couple more hills.

Ok, my view on this review is that the layout for Millennium is a lot better than SROS. I mean, SROS just Goes out, goes back right next ot it, and goes out the other way, does a helix and ends in Bunny hills. There are a lot more elements involved in Millennium. You first drop, do a overbanked turn/drop, go through a tunnel, go over a huge bunny hill onto an Island where you do even more banked turns. Antoher bunny hill to the mainland and into another tunnel and a little hill into another banked turn. This is such a great ride. Nothing is wrong, except dont ride it if its raining, ouch.

What would you give it a 9? You said yourself that the first drop is unbeatable! Unbeatable means: Nothing else can compare to what it has to offer. Any ride that has something like must deserve a 10.

If you are saying that their is nothing better then you must not know that this is only the second largest Giga the largest is steel dragon in Japan. Their is little to the layout of this coaster and yes you get the height and speed but seems to be little else.

Read my comment over again. I said Unbeatable means: Nothing else can compare to what it has to offer., meaning that I didnt say it was the best, atom dragon did.

No your the one wasting energy complaining to a guy mearly do to the fact that he gave the ride a 9. If the rating was low I could see the complaint but this is a fare rating. the ride dosnt offer much past the drop and the speed. If this things arnt the only things the voter is counting theride will likly loose points.

Whoa man! How about you cool your grill. Im not arguing or complaining. I was just bored at the time and thought I would go to my favorite ride (MF) and just comment about reviews. And by the way, the way you spell FAIR is F....A....I.....R

Maybe I did single you out its every one on this link. But, Do you really thik 9 is unfair.

A nine definatly is not unfair for this ride. I rode MF for the 1st time this weekend and I was not impressed. Its a great coaster but after the first drop there is something that is missing. The speed is unbeatable but the layout is flawed. I rated it a 10 but I can definatly see how someone could rate it a 9.
XtremeFan8 on 10/15/2002 3:03:53 PM said:
Who cares! I can think whatever I want! And when my favorite ride is involved I can especially think a 9 unfair!

So it dos come more down to you trying to protect the ride. I at time do that too. though I only do this to under rating 7-under on a really good ride and evven then if they dont explain them selfs well.

Look Im really not trying to start an arguement but Im just curious have you ridden Superman RIde of steel at SFNE? This weekend I went to Cedar Point (1st time) which I can truthfully say is greatest park in the world anticipating riding the greatest coaster in the world. While Millenium force is really one of the greatest rides there is, You really can not notice its flaws until you have been on an intamin thats very simillar how ever more complete. Dont get me wrong, There is no coaster in the world that matches that first drop and speed throughout the entire ride of MF. Thats why I give it a 10. However the layout and lack of substance after the 1st drop would be enough for someone to honestly give it a 9.

No, actually I am trying to bring fun intot he comments section. For examples, read the Kennywood reviews.

I have riden SROS at SFNE about 20 times since its opening three years ago. The high wait time only alows a 2 to 3 rides in a day if you plan to see the rest of the attractions in the park. I have also ridden Nitro at SFGAdv.
