Whalom Deal Done

Looks like its pretty much over for the park. Nice article, though, on the history of the park.

...the park sits idle, rides and buildings partially dismantled, under purchase and sale agreement between owners and a developer.

Despite efforts by some longtime owners to keep the rides running, the old-fashioned amusement park appears destined to slide quietly into the limbo of collective memory.

And what memories they are, cherished by generations of Central Massachusetts families for whom Whalom Park was a regular summer outing.

Well, that's a real shame. I gave $50 in hopes of helping out so I could one day visit the park. Small parks are a dying breed, we need cherish the ones we still have.

I read this now and trying not to cry. For me the fight for Whalom will only end with the striking of a wrecking ball. I am troubled by the lack of hope by the local media. I gave $100 to the park. Have attended the rally’s and my brother has gone the rally’s at the nearby Searsgate mall. With 2 more scheduled for this weekend. I have put many hours of work on finding replacement rides talking to manufactures, averaging something up around 300 hours. I'm not giving up and you shouldn't too buy a wale the worst that can happen is you get your money back. The best that can happen is you save a piece of history.
