Modified Strat Proposal in Vegas

Arghhh, great, now the hotel is starting to ease off on the thrill rides specs.. Of course it still sounds helatious, but its slowy fizzling from the monster it was once proposed to be.

According to the plans filed with the city, the Stratosphere is sticking with its original concept, but in a shorter, slower version.

Riders would still be dropped from the tower, but instead of a 740-foot vertical plunge, the ride will drop 510 feet, a reduction of 32 percent.

The ride will then cross Las Vegas Boulevard on its way to a steel tower fronting Paradise Road, but the towers height has been reduced from 416 feet to 325 feet.

The designs new dimensions will reduce the speed of the attraction from 120 mph to 93 mph.

Yeah, and the drop will now only be about 300 feet-thus the 93 MPH.

THAT SUCKS!! I would love to go on that ride if it was that tall. It would be the fasteset and tallest which would be awesome.

im not complaining about 510 ft at 93 mph!!! thats still going to be a great ride. sure, 740 ft would be nice but its not gonna happen at that height so we must compromise. i think this is a good compromise

The ride will still have truble passing a small er coster to you and me may be unatractive but even the rid ein it's new smaller state may sill cose the same complants form local resadince. Unlike most amusment parks the homes were their before hotel to they can't play the "you know what you were geting into" card.

I don't get the freaking residents! If they wanted a peaceful town move to Hawthorne, not to Vegas! They are dumb, "it will be to loud" well duh! You live only 1/2 a mile away, and that is your fault for being stupid enough to move there, not Strats fault!

I'd bet money that 2/3 of those people moved close to strat after it opened. Vegas is the most population nutszo city i the US. Some of like 5,000 move in and 3,000 move out of Vegas every month. It is ever changing. And their are still variables that the "Residents" didn't think of.. Like "hey there are 20 hotels in the downtown section, maybe they will build toward us" It is sin city for petes sake, the name says it all, and we want the coaster!
