72 Coasters in 24 Hours
Submitted By: ThmPrkCrtc on 8/9/2001 9:26:00 AM
Looks like a team of four gentleman will be going for a new coaster record, 72 different coasters in 24 hours, AND with the intention of raising money for the Childrens Miracle Network.

The men will attempt to ride 72 roller coasters in four states in 24 hours, which would rate a spot in the Guinness Book of Records. Among the rides will be six coasters at Dorney Park, three at Knoebels Grove, nine at Hersheypark and three at Williams Grove, just west of Harrisburg.

"Im a roller-coaster freak, but Im more of a freak to raise money for Childrens Miracle Network," said Phil Guarno of Hershey. The attempt to break the current record of 40 coasters in 24 hours is being done to raise $50,000 for the program at Hershey Medical Center, he said.

This is a noble cause, but I don't see them hitting 72 coasters in 24 hours. However, I think they may beat 40 coasters.

Its cool that they're reasing money for a good cause, but it is SO NOT FAIR!!! I wish I had the chance to do that, I would love riding all those coasters in a marathon, espicailly if I was raising money in the process. So if anyone is starting a marathon orginization, PLEASE TALK TO ME!!!

That would be a dream. Unfortunately for me I don't live close enough to enough roller coasters to do that.
