As promised, here is my trip report of Adventureland, in Farmingdale, NY.

At first I was just going to venture up to Coney Island, take in a few of their insane flats, a few rides on the Cyclone, and then head back home. Then I got to thinking...

"Adventureland is not too far up the road? Hmmmm... I have never been there...They have a Top Scan...droool..."

So I headed up there first, with the intention of hitting Coney on the way home.

It took forever to get there, a full three hours, with just stop and go traffic all the way along Long Island. It is an interesting little place. It is very narrow, and very long, and wedged in between all sorts of commercal and industrial buildings. I did luck out and find parking very close tot he entrance, and headed in.

The park is a free entrance park, where you can buy tickets, or you can get a wristband and ride all you want. After figuring what I wanted to ride and how many times, I figured the $22 wristband was the better option.

First up was the Ladybug.

Yeah, I know, a little family coaster, but it was fun, and line line, like the rest of the lines at the park, was short, dispite the rather large crowds.

Across the way is their Haunted House.

Pretty good dark ride. The stunts worked fairly well, with some exceptions, but best of all, it was VERY dark. You had no idea where you were going, or what was next.

Next to the haunted house was a new type of ride I had never seen before. It did not have a name on it, and is not listed on their website, so I don't really know anything about it. It is a freefall ride, but it also swings back and forth, while going up and down. Very different experiance, and fun too.

Across from this is the Hurricane coaster.

Now, I have been on the version at Playland, and let me say, these two rides are like night and day, and I think that is because of the seats, which are much more comfortable (though still not great). It really wipes you around, and the inverted loop is nothing short of amazing to me, and very unique element.

Wlking down the midway, I passed up their very nice Music Express...

and instead boarded Surf Dance.

This is a very unique ride. It is like a flying carpet, but instead the arms move at different speeds, thus making the ride more in all sorts of unpredictable ways. You get lots of swinging and some airtime. The only downside is the restraints, the are individual U bars, and they really cramp you. The ride would do well with gated sides and a single long lapbar instead.

Next door was the ride I had driven three hours for...the Top Scan.

Let me just say, this is one amazing ride. I found it to be more insane then the one at Canada's Wonderland, and that is saying alot. They had this thing changing directions and spinning wildly, and I loved it. It was totally unpredictable, and every one of my several rides were different. I just don't understand why there are not more of these, they are just mind blowingly fun.

Once I recomposed myself, I hopped on Crockadile Run, another new ride at the park, replacing the bumper boats

You are. Flats are great, as they give you a totally different experiance from coasters. Just take some Dromamine if you get naucous (sp?).

Wow.. I haven't been over there in a while. I think since 9th grade, actually... I've heard they've added some things but it looks like they've really done a lot and really picked it up! Maybe I'll have to get back over there sometime (it's about a 20 min drive-ish?) The only thing I miss is the Looping Star! I know they took it out, but I have no idea why. It was a kind of pirate ship that went around in loops, it was caged in kinda... I miss that..

Adventureland does have my favorite pirate ship though.. it always felt a higher ride than a lot of others I've been on.
