Today, I visited my home park, Six Flags America, since I've never done a trip report before, I thought I'd do one about this one.
I arrived at the park around 10:45am (it opened at 10:30am) I have a season pass, so I didn't need to buy a ticket. It was about 10:50am when I was ready to go in. FOr some reason, they no longer let people through security at 10:00am, to keep the lines down, so I got into the park around 45 minutes later, it seems as though everyone had a bag that needed to be tared through by security. Once I got in, I decided to hit up Superman: Ride of Steel, since hyper (or mega in this case) coasters are my favorite kind of ride. Much to my suprise, it was running 2 trains, something that I have never seen it doing during any of my visits (this is my home park keep in mind) I went on it twice and since it was so hot, I decided to cool down in the arcade. It was upon leaving the arcade that I made the worst decision of my day. Since the arcade I was at is right by the Mind Eraser, I decided to go on that. My ride finished and we were stopped at the brakes. Apparently, there was a problem with the other train, and it wouldn't leave the station, making it impossible for the train I was in to unload any passengers. We sat there for roughly 25 minutes, in the hot sun, and we finally got off. After that I decided to hit up Superman a couple more times. It had no wait, due to the running of the second train. After that I headed back to the arcade, had lunch, and hit up the wild thing. I think a certain site admin named bb_dg might find this next part interesting, since he has thoughts on the staff at this park. I was waiting in line for the Wild One, I was next to get on, and one of the ride operators noticed two guys cutting in line. He said go to the end of the line or you don't ride. One of the guys refused and they entered a verbal argument which lasted 2 minutes, pretty strange since the wait for this ride was about 3 minutes. After that I did Superman once more and I noticed that Batwing (which had been breaking down all day to my understanding) was testing empty trains. After Superman I went to Batwing, walked right on, and when I got off, the line was long and rapidly growing, for some reason they were only running one train. After that I went and rested and it started to rain. After the rain stopped, I did Superman 2 more times and then went to the Typhoon Seacoaster, which I was suprised to see open (I've only seen it open once since the park has been Six Flags) I was on the very last boat before it got shut down due to a thunder storm. Lucky me! Because there was lightning, pretty much every ride was closed. It was about 8:00pm by now, and I had hoped to stay until closing which was 10:30pm (20 minutes ago as of this writing) I decided to go out to my car and listen to the weather, and I heard that Prince George's County (the county Six Flags is in) and no where else had a severe thunderstorm warning for the next hour, and I wasn't about to wait around. So I left. And here I am. Dispite all these problems, it was still a good day. The longest I waited in line for a roller coaster was 5 minutes, not bad at all (I think many counties are back in school) Thanks for reading.
The only real major tip I have for you is, arrive early, avoid the long lines at the front gate.
