My Aunt works at Disney and offered to get me, my two kids and my neice(ages 6,8, and 8) into Disney Quest for free, so I fiqured I would give it a whirl.
11-19-01
Arrived at 1:00pm, had lunch at Planet Hollywood, looked around Virgin Records ( played X-box and Playstation2 for some time) checked out the House of Blues and found the Video Arcade at Pleasure Island.
-Made it into Disney Quest at about 3:00pm. It wasn't very crowded

FIRST STOP - Virtual Space Mountain-5min wait
The concept is great. Bill Nye guides you though a coaster design. You get 10,000 feet of track a bunch elements and about 3 1/2 minutes to design your coaster. The software was excellent, the themeing was good, but it really doesn't have the feel of a real coaster. There is a certain feel you get when you ride on steel or wood rails that was not simulated on this ride. A fantastic concept that needs a little more work. (RATING 6)

SECOND STOP - Pirates of the Carribean-10min
Great Concept, Great Themeing and a solid interface makes this game. You are on the deck of a pirate ship. One person is the Captain ( the Captain steers the ship and works the throttle ) The rest of the people playing are the cannon gunners. As you destroy enemy ships, you get treasure. In the end, you face a "boss" ghost ship and if you destroy it you win. There was also a sea serpent that will attack your ship in certain areas of the playfield. This game was my favorite.
(RATING 10)

THIRD STOP - Ride the Comics-No Wait
This was an OK VR game. You wear a headset and get a sword. You move from room to room and destroy attackers. There wasn't much detail and the interface didn't feel very realistic. I have played better games on Playstation. (RAING 5)

FORTH STOP - Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters-5min
If you are into bumper cars, this is your ride. The themeing and playfield were excellent. Pretty dark and lots of UV effects. My kids loved this game.
(RATING 7)

FIFTH STOP - Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam-no wait
I love pinball and thought this was fun. You control the pinball by moving a podium you are standing on in the direction you want the ball to go. You are playing against multiple opponents for a high score. You should be happy to know I was beaten by my 6 year old daughter. (RATING 7)

SIXTH STOP - Alladin's Magic Carpet Ride - no wait
Played this VR game with the kids and my neice The interface and controls seemed kind of klunky. It was funny to look over at your partners and see monkeys on carpets. The virtual terrain looked like something out of DK64. A good concept. I think it was built for kids about 6 to 9 years old. Nothing spectacular, but worth a game. (RATING 5)

SEVETH STOP - Invasion Alien Encounter-no wait
An interactive shooter that was hard to control. Good themeing, but the interface was terrible. You basically shoot aliens and try to rescue guys by picking them up. (RATING 4)

EIGHTH STOP - Virtual Jungle Cruise - no wait
The kids liked it, I didn't. You sit in a raft with 3 other people, you use a paddle and paddle in the direction you want to go. Teamwork is key. I didn't care for the flat screen and think it would work better with a VR headset. Kids liked it though, they tried it multiple times.(RATING 4)

OVERALL - Disney Quest has a bunch of neat high tech toys to play with. One of the things I liked was that DQ had a lot of classic video games from the 70's-80's in mint cabinets to play for free. If you have kids from 6 to 12, this will be a great place. Not a lot for adults though. Your kids will want to move in.

It sounds fun but is it worth it if you had to pay.

V Jungle Cruise wasn't my favorite, but my kids(ages 6 & 8) wanted to do it over and over.
