PKD was the conventions official host park and i believe they couldnt have picked a better park than PKD.

let me just start off by saying how impressed i was with PKD. they went out of their way to make this a great convention and i thank them for that. i had never been to PKD so this was a treat

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18th

this part of the convention started off with ERT on volcano: the blast coaster as well as flight of fear and a flat. when we arrived at the park, we were greeted with free parking, a very nice touch (although BGWs prefered parking at normal price wasnt too bad). once we got in the park, we were given goodie bags with a tshirt, pin, nice welcome letter from the president of paramount and a poster. there was also a huge banner on the eifel tower welcoming ACE and wishing us a happy 25th anniversary. this set the standard which would have been met and broken many times over by the park. i was also impressed that they flew in the PR guy from PKI to handle the event. this guy was very sociable, friendly and much like a cruise director.

got to the ERT and stopped in for some breakfast provided by the park- nice job with that all three days! i was one of the first in line for the ERT on volcano (and that was definately good because the first lap of this ERT session had the longest lines on volcano the whole time we were there). right before the park opened, we headed to hypersonic for my first ride on that. what a great ride it is too. front seat and that launch was simply amazing.

did alot of the coasters, flats and drop zone today too as lines were very short. lunch was provided by the park and was actually pretty decent. later that night, we were greeted at a reception complete with live music (great job with that!), door prizes and some not-your-normal-park-food food.

ERT tonight was on all the big woodies. one thing i have to say is i thought grizzly would have been alot better than it was and truthfully, i was not impressed with their collection of woodies at all. the tunnel on grizzly is killer though, especially when you dont know its there and its nighttime. my favorite ride of the night was rebel yell because of the very enthusiastic ride ops. also i was impressed that when one flat ride didnt show for ERT, they opened up another

THURSDAY, JUNE 19th

breakfast was again served by the park and ERT was given on HSXLC, the skycoaster (very impressive with the free part of that too) and some flats. ive never done a skycoaster, always wanted to, so we went to stand in the long and slow moving line of xtreme skyflyer. it was worth it though. skycoasters are awesome and it being free made it just that much better.

spent some time at the park today and then headed to the richmond marriott for some of the more convention related stuff. sat in on some workshops like the events planning one and the business meeting. very interesting actually. at the end of the business meeting, carole sanderson (president of ACE) addressed everyone about the raven incident and following the rules. this was actually a very intense part of the meeting.

because my bro was getting alittle tired of the parks (who could get tired of coasters?!) we explored the area alittle. i have relatives down there, actually very close to PKD, and i was already down there twice i believe earlier this year. went to a gun store, green tops, and i bought a hat to wear back at the park. it read "keep the south clean, put a yankee on a bus." i made sure to have my name tag on when i read it with my home state of pennsylvania written on it.

back at the park, hit up some more rides. drop zone is an amazing rush. also caught the end of a funny presentation of rollercoaster (the movie from the 70s) pop-up video style. after that it was a mad rush to the kiddie coaster, taxi jam. since it was one of the coasters on the ERT schedule an
