What luck! To end up in Maine this summer, particularly the Old Orchard Beach area...that's somewhere I wish I could be! Unfortunately, my vacation is still hanging over my head. We were all talking about Kennywood for a while, but now it seems like everytime I mention it, the subject is changed immediately.
ANYWAY, as for tips for Palace Playland, I would say go on everything BUT the flume. I think that the flume at this park is incredibly cheesy. It's not even a real flume. It looks like something that gets packed up and travels with a carnival when the park isn't operating. Naturally, it is not very big, so there are really only two elements to the ride: the going up and going down and...well, you wait and see it for yourself. I didn't like it though.
Everything else at this park is pretty nice and well kept up. The food at this park is pretty decent too and there are a lot of things to choose from, fortunately. You're very much in luck if you like gelato!
There are lots of tacky little gift shops, but that makes it fun too. It won't be hard to have fun at this park. I hope that you and your sig. otha have a good time!

My brother and I just returned from our trip to Funtown, Splashtown, USA in nearby Saco, Maine. We had a great time and I was quite impressed with this fine little park. Excalibur and Dragon's Decent were awesome and the rest of the park was good old-fashioned fun. I will try to write a trip report soon, but I wanted to write this quick note now to encourage you you to go there during your trip.

yes, definately go to funtown! excalibur is amazing and that coaster is worth the trip alone. as for the park itself, it has a more carnival feel to it with alot of great fun rides and one of the bet yo-yos anywhere. dragons decent (the S&S turbo drop) is very good too.

i was in old orchard beach a few years back, its a very nice area but it gets packed so be warned. get beach atmosphere but even in summer, the water is freezing
