I plan on visiting Dorney Park on June 26. What rides have the longest waits? Could I ride all the coasters and major thrill rides in one day? Does the park ever get really crowded? If so where are most of the crowds? What are the best rides the park has to offer? Thanks for all the help!

Steel Force is by far the best, and Talon is cool too. Surprisingly I think that the smaller wooden coaster is superior to the big Hercules. You'll have no problem doing Dorney in a day, I once did it in about 6 hours.

Thanks for the tip. Is Hercules as bad as it sounds?

Eh, I personally don't like it that much. The one big drop is fun, but that's about it for me.

Is it rough and bumpy? Does it have long lines?

Whenever i go Hercules has about a 10 minute line. The first drop is the best part and the rest is ok. All the lines at Dorney go pretty quick on hot days cuz everyone is at the waterpark. Steel Force is normally a 20-30 min wait, Talon is about 15-20, Hercules and Thunderhawk are about 10-15 and Laser is always about 5-10 mins. and The wild mouse is always about 25-30 mins. All the flat rides at Dorney usually make u wait for one ride cycle and your on.

probably talon because it's close to the gate then get to steel force, but really don't worry man it's a pretty small park and easy to do in one day. You don't really need a gameplan for a park like Dorney.

Talon and Steel Force are about equal in popularity. You might wanna ride Dominator on your way from Talon to Steel Force though cuz the line for that fills quick and is kinda slow.

I've been to Dorney twice and have only ridden 3 of the coasters. Thunderhawk never has a line and will be a walk-on all day long. I also noticed that Hercules didn't have a line either. The Lazer has a very slow moving line, terrible capacity, and the slowest lift hill of all time. The Wild Mouse is pretty popular, but the lines move fast. I don't know what Steel Force and Talon's lines are like, because I didn't seem them. Every water ride with the exception of Thunder Creek Mountain has slow moving lines. Don't miss the Apollo 2000 ride. It's really fun and unique. Dorney is quite a small park so don't expect much. Have fun!

If life is a roller coaster, why can't it be an inverted one?

OK, first I implore you to change your plans and go to Dorney on the 27th and do SFGAdv on the 26th instead. I believe this way you will have a better time at both parks. You should not miss the chance at ERT during Coaster Madness, the park usually runs the coasters different during ERTs, like allowing one click lapbars and no trim brake runs. It is a chance that should not be missed.

First thing you should do upon entering the park is hit Talon. It is off to the right, just follow the signs, and don't go down the path to Wild Water Kingdom. Get the front seat, it is awsome. After you get a few laps on Talon, head to the back of the park.

On your way back, hit Dominator. The downshot side is incredible.

Steel Force is all the way in the back of the park. If you get back here within an hour of opening, there will be no one here, and immediate rerides are common, even on Saturdays.

Once you have gotten your fill of Steel Force, head over and get a few laps on Laser, and remember, this is what a looper is like without OTSR's.

Next is Thunderhawk. It was a much better coaster then it is now, it has been trimmed back a bit. If you do Coaster Madness, they may release the trims.

Hurt-Your-Knees, oh, I mean Hercules, is pretty much a walk on at any time, so there really is no need to plan for it.

The Wild Mouse is near the front of the park and is always busy, but the line moves pretty well.

Little Laser is off limits to adults, sorry. Don't know about the other kiddie coaster.

Other rides of note is Thunder Canyon, the best water rapids ride I have ever been on, it is spectacular. They also have a Top Spin, and as someone had already noted, ride Appolo 2000, fun ride, though the one at Kennywood is better.

Have Fun!!!

Do I have to be a member of ACE to get ERT?

You must be a member of any coaster orginazation. I would suggest Great Ohio Coaster Club, they are only $20 single/$40 family and are very reconized. The savings you get from addmission alone make up for the expense, since you save $16 on admission and get a lunch, worth at least $25 a person. PLUS, you get the ERT. Very much worth it.

No, you have to be a part of a reconized club. Spend the twenty bucks and join. The newsletters alone are worth it.

I thought about joining ACE like two years ago, but I might join this year. The only problem is going to the events they schedule.

I joined ACE in December and I'm gonna try to get up to Dorney for Coaster Madness too. ERT = Good stuff

yeah its still 50 but its worth it. great magazines and newsletters (although they do come a bit behind schedule). as for dorney, here is what i encountered on the day of coaster madness last year. everything was pretty much a walk on all day. talon got alittle crowded but not unbearable. the longest line of the day was for the wild mouse and that was 30-45 minutes. after morning ERT, i changed into a bathing suit, went on the water rides on the dorney side and then headed to WWK the back way and went on everything working my way to the front of the park. we encountered the longest lines at WWK, aquablaster (i think thats the name) being the longest at nearly 45 minutes. from there, i changed back into normal clothes and took in some lunch. i took my time and got numerous rides on everything after lunch. evening ERT was on steel force which was great. they let the session go 30 minutes longer for a total of 1.5 hours of ERT (this was mostly to make up for the delay in talon in the morning). i got a middle seat towards the back and didnt get off until the ERT was over. have fun and be prepared for an early morning and a late night

I will probably join ACE. What are their newsletters like? Is it like a magzine? Is it monthly?

bimonthly and now its starting to have some pretty nice rumors in it (they were the ones that broke the paramount B&M rumor which will turn out to be true if they printed it). the magazine is mostly color and includes reviews of ride and tons of pics. two very good publications

How is the food at the park? Where are the best food locations? Is it expensive? Is there fast food locations in or around the park like McDonald's?

The food is OK and not too pricy, though I am cheap and pack a lunch. There are a ton of local fast food places near the park.

Does the park sell those big souvenir maps like Cedar Point?

Maps are small free ones. I have not seen the suveneer maps in years, since before Cedar Fair took over. I actually still have a map from 1990:

Sorry the picture isn't the best, when I get that part of the site finished it will include a much improve shot of it.
