My brother and I left at 9:00 so that we could get to Canobie at 10:00. We maid it to the park with a few minutes to spare. We took advantage and used some of out Scouting Stuff to get in 2 for 1. the parking lot was mildly busy but it would get worse throughout the day. We meat up with a girl we both know. She and my brother both used to work at the park.

At 10:20 or so they opened the gate and we walked back to Castaway Island. It was finally finished and the Place looks great. We weren’t planning to use it but while it was still closed we took a look around. See Canobie lets you in early to take a look around and see the landscaping and a few conception stands are open.

The first thing I noticed was the level of themeing put into the area. the Volcano Entrance not only erupted with smoke form time to time as you walked through there was a rumbling eruption type sound that shook a bit as you walked through. The Play Structure is huge. It’s the largest one in New England and easily one of the largest in the North east. The Longer slides start around 40ft in the air and the barrel dumps twice as fast as any other I have seen.

We walked over to the Cannonball for the first ride of the day at talked to the people in line as the ride prepared to open. I was told that there was allot of wood and steel in back of the dark ride building and that she was told it’s for a coaster. I was told later that that wood was for the Cannonball and so was the steel and that they were able to reuse more then expected. The ride was far better then my opening day ride. the coaster didn’t slow down on the new turn and actually proved it’s old standing as one of the better coasters in NE.

We maid our way around the park with little rime or reason just hitting things as we pleased. We walked over T the Boston Tea Part. This Saturday was very ht and we wanted to get wet. This ride is always guaranteed to get you soaked so we had nothing to worry about. From there we maid out way to DiVinci’s Dream. They said it would be shut down for a few minutes so we walked over to over the rainbow. As soon as we were settled in a team lead walked over and said they had to shut that ride down.

Within Minutes all the rides were unloaded in the park. It seems there was a brown out in the city and when that happened the Fire alarm went off at the Ballroom. It took about 45 minutes to get things taken care of. They did make sure to inform people that the boat and train were still open and operating. I grabbed some Fried dough and waited things out. The park maid sure to explain the problem later they would keep the park open 30minutes longer to make up for it. this was the only down side of our day.

The only rides down was the tea cups and that was only for a short time we still never rode them were where to busy on everything else. The maintenance team was nice enough while we were there to explain the rides ins and outs and how it operated. For me that was interesting. Rowdy Roosters was the other one. They are refurbing the tubs. I think they may be rethemeing them to better fit the area.

You see after Wipeout was installed allot of things were slightly themed around it. The Crystal orbiter resaved a new paint, a two sided tiki head that breaths mist, and a new name, Tiki Maze.

Through out the day we road everything except the two rides that were down, Round up, and bumper cars. All the rides were running well. Wipeout had switched form the two direction long program to a more in tense, but less nauseating single direction program.

The big pleasures of the day were the Cannonball running at its fast hyper speed post retracking days. The other was the mine of Lost souls.

The mine of lost souls is a high end Animatronic dark ride. Over time it had been running down. The effects were running well with allot of them cleaned up. Some animatronics that weren’t working before not work. Most impressive was a new door in the<

Mrc, I love your trip reports. You always seem to get all of the info I want everywhere you go.
One thing that I am curious about is this new thing...Wipeout or whatever it's called...what exactly does that do? Maybe I'm a little dense, but even going on the Canobie Fan site (which is AWESOME) hasn't helped me figure out exactly what it's there for. And what's this new thing, Castaway Island? Is that a water park thingy?
Neat that you get to chat with the owner and that he asks your opinion. That's good stuff.
I'm glad you had fun. I'd be very thankful to get a chance to visit CL again soon. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll be happening this year, since we've already hit up Kennywood and Lake Compounce (a surprise trip yesterday, mind you) and will probably still do a trip to Darien Lake. I'd love to get back, though, especially to see all of the new stuff (although I don't know about repainting the crystal maze and calling it the tiki maze ).
One last thing: I'm very happy to hear that Mine of Lost Souls is back in good shape. Last I heard, it was about to collapse (or that's what people were making it sound like). If anything, it seems like they made an improvement to the ride. Catch ya later, mrc.

Teh buildign for Mine of Lostr Souls is in good shape but the animatronics were a bit slugish or jsut not workign by the end of last year. they did a good jsut on getign it back up. there are still a few things I woudl look into doing and fixing.

Whipout is a chance Whipout als a trabant. it's the same as Joker's Wildcard ar SFNE but this is outside and run far more intence. even withteh shorter program it's more intence. they also don't pull the two people to a seat bit. This is the company info on the ride. it's got a ssea look to it with a star fish like Guarga lake.

Castaway Island is a water play area by Whit water west. It's the lagist of it's kind in NE and one of the largist in the US. It is literaly the size of a house. It has 9 slides and a number of other atractions the tiping berral is aslo far more effeciant then your normal play area. Take a looka t the info on canobie site.

You said you go onto Canobie fan. what is you screen name there? you know mine.

Well, thanks for clearing up the wipeout thing. From looking at construction pictures and hearing what everyone has to say about it, I wouldn't have guessed that it's basically a trabant. I like Joker's Wildcard, though, and I feel like it's a good move. Maybe I'm harsh, but I won't miss the Kozmo jets too much.
I think my name on Canobie Fan is molslin48, although I'm just kind of lurking for now. I don't have a lot to say since I haven't been in a couple of years, but it's a good site and I like that I'm not the only fan of the park.
