My wife and I head to Universal Orlando whenever we have the chance. We have been there during almost every month and have found both Universal Studios and Island of Adventures enjoyable no matter when we go (Although Christmas seems to be our favorite time). No matter when you go, it would be in your best interest to stay at an on-site hotel (Portifino, Hard Rock or the Royal Pacific). These hotels are not owned by Universal, but are owned by Loews Hotel. They nevertheless have gone a long way to give the guests a wonderful place and even better ammenitites. If you stay at the hotels you have access to the parks via boats, which makes for a more delightful trip. The boats arrive at your hotel and transports you to the City Walk, which is no more than a five minute walk to the parks. Other than the hotels themselves, the best reason to stay on-site is the express pass that each guest receives. On our first trip to Universal, we at Thanksgiving, we rode the Hulk eight times and saw the same people in the regular line. The rooms are actually reaonable and for the benefit of not waiting in line, it increases your time riding and enjoying the parks. My wife loves the Portifino, but the Hard Rock is my cup of tea (or is glass of beer). We have not stayed at the Royal Pacific, but plan on stopping by to view the facility when we go in May. Final hint, if you are going to stay on-site, sign up for a Loews membership and buy a yearly pass, you will save big on your room rates if you do. ENJOY.

The Hard Rock Hotel was freakin' awesome. Everything was great from the memorabilia to the Stairway to Heaven ice cream.
