What would y'all say is the best coaster drop in the history of the world?
Also, what would be the worst coaster drop (excluding kiddie/family coasters, or is that too hard to answer)

The Cyclone has the best first drop on any coaster I've ridden. It's so steep that you really feel like you're going to fall out.

I don't really know what the 'worst' coaster drop I've ridden is, but I'd say Mean Streak's first drop pretty much sucks because of the trims.

What Danny said. Hercules also had really bad trims that ruined what had the potential to be a great drop.

Dragon Coaster at Rye Playland has some sentimental appeal for me, but the truth is it doesn't have a decent drop on the entire course.

Based on what I've been on, Millennium Force without a doubt has the best first drop ever. The 300 foot plunge isn't only fast & breathtaking, but the length & airtime you get on that drop's decent.

The worst first drop ever's definitely Mean Streak. That trim it has on the top of its crest leaves the whole train hanging & it doesn't even feel like the top speed of 65 m.p.h. is being attained. It feels more like a 50 m.p.h. coaster. Dorney Park's former Hercules came close, but the trim on that wasn't as bad as Mean Streak's & I felt more speed coming down that 151 foot first drop.

If this counts as a real drop, then I have to go with Kingda Ka's spiraling vertical decent. But if it doesn't then I'll go with the coaster right near it, El Toro. El Toro has a horrifying first drop if you ride in the back.

Worst drop goes to...I don't know really! I'd say a Zyklon portable coaster but that classifies as a family coaster.

Nitro's drop comes to mind due to its length, steepness, and the butterflies in your stomach. But it's probably inferior to even steeper descents. For me, it's either El Toro's crossover drop, or Millie's.

Worst drop goes to either Rolling Thunder's "big" one, or Corkscrew's nothing-too-special plunge (CP)

Few great drops:

- Revenge of the Mummy after the launch
- Both of SheiKra's drops
- Millennium Force 1st drop
- Raging Bull 1st drop

Worst? Nothing really comes to mind. I agree with Mean Streak, and that's about it.

^^ The largest drop on Space is only 22 feet. Not exactly "Big"

Taco, I don't remember a drop after the launch on mummy. A small pop of airtime, but that's about it. Is it right after the launch?

Probably only a little bigger than that Space Mountain drop, but if you sit on the far back left seat in the car, it's pretty nuts.

Well, bigger than the 2 foot drop mentioned earlier.

I don't get that at all. The last drop on T-Bolt is a classic.

I find T-Bolt to be one of the most overrated coasters out there.

Best Drop. Speed, Balder, MF

Worst Any Drop With Trims.

Overrated, but the drops are in no way the worst.

Really so someone elses Opinion is wrong. Now if we get down to basics the worst drop ever is on Lil Shaver, but that would make this a real stupid conversation if we only talked about kiddie coasters.

I'm with Danny. Whether someone considers T-bolt overrated or not, nobody can plausibly say it has the "worst drops."

I believe he did say it. Like I tried to hint I am guessing he means the worst drops of bigger coasters. It is my least favorite ride at KW and in my opinion has the worst drop there. It is also one of the weaker drops I have been on that does not contain trims. For regular woodies I can only think of a few that are worse and Megaphobia is the only one that pops into my head.

I do think it has one of the worst drops that I have been on. So I said it again.

ok lads, so which drop are we talking about here? there are five drops and a bunny hill. i personally don't think any qualify as terrible.

also, are we talking drops off of chain lifts or any ol' part of a roller coaster that tilts down towards the earth?

timberman's citation of the final drop on TB as a classic is correct IMO. the others are not gut busting, but certainly not forceless. in the back i get airtime coming of the station into the initial plunge. honestly, the drops other than the double down on the jack rabbit are very mild. i would never say they are "worst" though. how do we determine the worst? no forces? short? weak angle of descent?

this is a weird thread, frankly.

Who cares!! I don't like any drop on the TB, the first or the last, so it makes my list. Coaster05 was with me when I rode the TB and I told him then I didn't like this ride. It is one of the wrost drops that I have rode. So get over it. I will be at dorney and Knoebells in oct. maybe there is a worst drop at one of these parks. But for now TB has the second worst drop that I have been on.

I just love how people can tell others what there worst drop is. TB is a ok ride, but it has nothing really memorable to me either. I'm sorry that Taylor does not like your guys ride, but I am sure you will be ok in the long run.

Best Drop

Steel- Apollo's Chariot
Wood- Excalibur (Funtown U.S.A.)

Apollo's Chariot has the best drop on a steel coaster because of the long length of the drop and the insane ejector air in the back seat. Excalibur at Funtown U.S.A. has an excellent first drop because it's pretty steep for a wooden roller coaster, and the back seat gets some very good ejector air.

Worst Drop

Steel Coaster: Laser (Dorney Park)
Wooden Coaster: Thunderhawk (Dorney Park)

The Laser's big drop is the worst one on a large steel coaster I have been on. It's somewhat rough and not as fun as others. The Thunderhawk has no air-time on its first drop, is very small, and is sort of rough.

taylor said "one of the worst drops" so i asked him which one. timberman said he couldn't understand the opinion. then i asked other questions, such as what is your criteria for "worst". nowhere do i see anyone suggesting what anyone's "worst" should or shouldn't be. you guys didn't answer any questions or try to have a discussion at all.

"i just didn't like it" is not a very interesting conversation. "who cares" and "you guys will survive" is not remotely conversational. the point isn't to change anyone's opinion, but to DISCUSS something on a DISCUSSION board.
