The question's whether anyone will want to put in the time & effort to revive a somewhat disappointing coaster site or not. It obviously doesn't get the attention like TPR, Coasterbuzz, or Thrill Network, so it'll be tough to bring that old website back to compete.

I have been an active member there for quite a long time. If they had actually finished all the features, it could have been a terrific site. They just, for some reason, never got everything complete. Still have some good updates now and then, though.

I think that some people don't realize how much work and time must be put into a website to keep it running. I don't even have time to keep my blog running so I had to delete it. As for the site, it just needs some work and some publicity to become popular.

Sites are extremely hard to run. You can still find "Scott's Coaster zone" if you look hard enough. Too bad that only the front page got finished!!

I know how much time and effort it takes to keep a site up and running, and having to maintain that over some years.

The site is quite popular. They were pulling in way over 1 million hits a month when they released their last version of the site. The number has since gone way down, unfortunatly.

I call bull, they don't get 1M hits a month. They never have.

And yes, hosting a site is time-consuming, but you have to like doing it. For me, its a hobby. Even if no one visited my site, I'd still be challenging myself to build a better site.

Dennis (one of the webmasters) has said that's what they use to get, and the counter on the site for this month says over 600,000 hits. That's down from what they use to be getting.

I love working with websites. Creating it all from the ground up. Time well spent.

The counter isn't just for this month, its been running since sometime between July and September 04.

That works out to be about 800-900 hits per day.. much more believeable, and then when you factor in the fact that they have forums, it really isn't that impressive at all.

I wouldn't pay much for the rights to the domain, and I'd just redirect it to my site... its not worth that much, IMO.

About the counter, directly from a webmaster:

"It only counts unique visitors to the main page, nothing on sub-pages, or anything on the forums.

The average hits per day is around 35,500 right now."

That's just a webmaster trying to sell his site!

OK look here, the counter has been running since Aug 2, 2004.

Compare the Wayback Machine archives since that date, and you will notice the hits gradually go up over time. (way back when it even said "Since Aug 2, 2004")

Knowing what I get, 35,000 homepage impressions per day is REALLY hard to believe. Why is their Alexa rating so low then? I know its not terribly accurate, but still you'd think they wouldn't be below 2,000,000.

I don't see what the site has other than forums, they list a few features but none of them work.

It may have a really good forum for all I know, but still... it's only a forum, so I wouldn't pay that much nor would I expect their hits to be so high. I'm sorry, I'm just really skeptical about those numbers.

You misunderstood what I said.

They get 35,000 hits TOTAL per day. That's not just homepage. That's every page from every visitor added up. The counter on the main page counts unique visitors per day to only the main page. No other pages are counted in there.

It's a great site with a nice community forums, but as I said earlier, could have been so much better if their features had actually been finished.

I'll just agree to disagree, even though I'd like to see the site provide evidence of such traffic.. though in all honesty it doesn't matter much.
