I didn't sign it either. Mainly because I've never been there.

I signed it, told them to TAER IT DOWN!!! in the comments field. Online petitions are stupid and pointless, this one more so after you read just how poorly it is written.

I could care less about what happens to Six Flags Magic Mountain. It's a huge park that's really filling in that huge hole Six Flags Inc. has been in for a long time. SFMM's all about roller coasters & nothing else. It doesn't matter anyway because it's not like I would've visited the park anytime soon because I live 3000 miles away from the park. Also, since the park's an Xtreme Thrill Park, my family, other than my dad, would probably not ride anythang while we're there & that's no fun. If they would've built more family rides & flat rides that're thrilling, the attendance would've skyrocket & they wouldn't be in this mess. Just save the coasters & tear down the whole park altogether for better land management purposes.

Does the creator of this petition really believe that 1,000 (Wow, 1,000!!!!@@@) signatures would save a park that is draining a chain into the millions?

1,000 signatures = who cares for a corporate park chain. Not dissin', just reality.

Of course, I have to jump in with the obligatory, adriahna-patented "Keep in mind that they have a carousel worthy of saving" - otherwise, I know very little about the park...

You have to know at least a bit more then that. this park has beenon TV many times. it's the location of the Finaly of the Rollercoaster movie. The parks has 16 ocaster, That Superman tthe Escape ride, with them holding many world records.

But 1,000 signatures won't help you'ls need at least 400 times that to even start to kmake them Listn.

I don't know what is more useless "The Petition" or "This thread".

The only way to "guarantee" the park doesn't get torn down is for it make more money as an amusement park than a building development. And with the mentality of enthusiasts who want something for nothing, the park making more money is just not going to happen.

One thousand peitions mean nothing. 1,000,000 people spending $100 at the park, that means something.

At least I moved the thread from news to this forum

adr - as I recall, the carousel was *just* a PTC with obvious signs of corporate neglect, so I wouldn't even place it that high on the carousels-to-save list (you can hit me now)

I doubt the park will be closed. I think it will remain in operation, even if under a different banner.

Wow, this is pathetic. There is NO WAY anything will become of this petition. Why? Yea, big CEO's in charge of a company billions of dollars in debt will cripple and change a huge business decision about an amusement park NOT because these people are making attendance higher and spending money at the park, but instead are signing a stupid online petition (which by the way is one of a couple anyway) with a few thousand signatures. I'm sure he'll never even see it.
Signatures do nothing people, money does, does an online name and email adress hand over the cash? I don't think so. It's useless. SFMM is not failing due to "lack of people willing to type their names and email adresses", its failing due to lack of peoeple walking through their gates and willing to spend some money, which is pretty bad considering the size and potential of this park.
An online petition won't save this park just as much as an online petition won't help me pay for my books next semester.

Sounds like anyone who wants to save the park as a Six Flags property should buy a ticket (not bring a Season Pass to their local park) & the VIP Thrill Pass for $79, and then find another half million or so people to do the same.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

The place isn't even going under officially yet and now someone has a petition for it. Petitions are getting like the legal system - people don't know when to use peitions in the right circumstances and people don't know when to sue in the right circumstances.

As I said before this park will NEVER close. Will it be owned by someone other than Six Flags in the near future? Perhaps, but that is all that would happen if anything.

I could see it closing at some point. I don't think it will happen soon, but I think it is a possibility. I mean, there is some major work that needs to be done there and some major re-imaging. It's pretty sad that they are only third in attendance within the corporation when they are open practically all year long.

I didn't sign...they could tear the park down for all I care, I'm never going there probably. Just send X to Jersey.

Now if they were thinking about closing SFGAdv...I would be very unhappy obviously, even though GAdv half sucks.
