I'm admittedly more of a steel coaster fan (shout out to all my steelies out there) and find myself often criticizing the incredible harshness of many of the woodies, both new and old. I've been jarred, beat up, and smacked around by some of the worst the East Coast has to offer.

Recently, I've had a few eye-opening exeperiences when I rode some recently re-tracked woodies that gave great rides. (Raging Wolf Bobs @ Geauga Lake & the Comet @ Hershey) Does anyone know of any other successful re-trackings? Does one park chain seem to do them more often than others? Or are they just really rare?

Well overall it depends on who you go to Company that retracked Gl's coaster is Martin and Vleminckx. They do an amazing job. infact this companie has made a livign out of retrackign many of CCI's coasters and Building B&M's in the US.

This company Retracked and reprofiled Teh Yankee cannonball at Canobie lake Park along side GCI.

M&V also did work on: There finished rides list.

I think GCI retracked there Comet coaster.

I think that GCI probably does the best job at re-tracking their woodies. For example, I went on the Wildcat at Hersheypark with my youth group after the special event of Youth Convention & the coaster felt a whole lot smoother. It might've been because I sat in the front seat, but even if I didn't, I still don't think that I felt as many bumpy spots on Wildcat like I did last year.

They dod do a fantastic job. they (GCI) are the ones that made the cannoball so smooth at Canobie. But those two companies are the ones to go to.

Of course Grizzly and Hurler at PKD ain't on that company's list...no wonder there isn't any difference, PKD took the cheap way out. Doesn't surprise me at all

I think the roughness of a woodie makes it suck a good ride, thats why I like Meanstreak so much and thats why I'm loooking forward to riding Wildcat at Hershey when I go this summer.
