I figured some folks might like to see these. I just scaned some old photos from Dorney Park that I took way back in June of 1992. They aren't that great, but the one really shows alot of old Dorney, including the old Circle Swing, Journey To The Center Of The Earth and the coaster station. The others are of Hercules.

Great pics Cyclonic. I'm glad that I got to see & ride Hercules on its last yr. in 2003. Hercules overall would've got a 7 from me, mostly b/c of its 1st drop. It's still the largest drop I've ever been on a woody. It had some roughness, but that's the whole point of having woodies, so that wasn't a big factor at all. It would've been great to visit Dorney Park back in 1992 or so'em, but then again I'd only be 3 years old.

Those photographs are great, especially the ones of Hercules. It is great to see Hercules operating and being enjoyed it its prime years.

I wouldn't say that roughness is the whole point of woodies. Some woodies are rough but when the rough becomes painful it ceases to be fun.

If coasters are supposed to be rough like the Wildcat at Hersheypark, usually people don't mind it. But, coasters that are poorly maintained, or were supposed to be smooth and are rough, usually make a ride not fun.

I've been looking for pictures of Dorney as of late. Thanks a lot for posting them. They are really a nice blast from the past. Geeze. I remember those days. I might have been a little young, but those are the days that I remember and really enjoyed. It was a nice, small, well maintained park that everyone could enjoy. I really miss those days.
And Hercules really sucked its last couple of years. It was a shame.
RIP Hercules 1989 - 2003 RIP Dorney Park 1884-1992

I just wish I had taken more pictures back then, but that is what happens when you are young, you don't really think about hanging onto those memories.

I get what you mean. That is why I have been taking a lot of photos of Laser and Thunderhawk over the last couple of seasons.

If a roller coaster at Dorney Park were to leave, probably the next one to leave would be Laser because of its high maintenance costs and declining popularity. Time hasn't been a friend to most of Dorney Park's coasters.

I enjoyed Hercules very much when I rode it in 2000 and before this. I really miss this coaster. It was rough but most wooden coasters are a rough ride. I never really took alot of pictures of roller coasters when I visited parks. I usually bought post cards of the coasters.
