I don't know if this has been addressed before. I've noticed problems lately with Chaos rides. Is the manufacturer having problems with them? The only one I've found operating this past season has been in Delaware at Funland. I know Hersheypark has one,but I haven't been there this year. I've noticed everytime I visit either Six Flags America or Six Flags Great Adventure the ride is down. Maybe it's a Six Flags issue? Anyone have any idea?

Well, there was the one that collapsed and then there was the one at Clementon that killed (or seriously injured, I'm not sure) a kid this season (it was closed up until about two weeks before the park closed down). The one at Great Adventure hasn't been open all year. I got on the one at Hershey last year. Those things are just really big problems all over the place. I am sure a good deal of them will be replaced.

Interesting topic, dark - I had wondered the same thing, myself - especially after the Clementon issue. Funland's has always seemed to run in top form - it just looks to flow through its paces. Never ridden it (too afraid of a goofy stomach resulting), but it looks darned good to me.

They could close all of those shin busters and I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep.

I've always steered clear of these things and have never gotten the chance to see one of them in operation. All of the horror stories I've heard of them getting stuck never really appealed to me. I only remember seeing it held at an upright position once, which also lead me to believe that they aren't for me (hangtime is not my friend). I feel stupid for asking (excuse my ignorance), but what can anyone tell me the basic difference between this and an enterprise?

Many Chaos rides have issues with it's arm that holds the ride up. Due to the force from the flipping of the cars, the ride can collapse. Also, the restraints seem to be unsafe, as they usually open during a ride at least once a year. The difference between Chaos and Enterprises are that the Enterprise is faster, the cars don't flip freely, it's taller, and the cars are totally enclosed. The Chaos has freely flipping cars and open-air cars.

I haven't ever been on a Chaos ride, but I probably wouldn't enjoy myself because I'd be worrying about the ride's safety. However, I'm not too fond of Enterprises, but they are fun every once and a while.

I like Chaos rides... but of course, my middle name is "danger"

I think they are, well, not fun but a big thrill. A thrill to the point that you are about ready to pee your pants because you are so scared that you will be splat on the ground on your next flip.

I really thought I would like them the first time I saw them, but now they are avoided at almost all costs.

Well, I've always enjoyed the Chaos ride in the past. I've ridden them at several different places. I have to admit, though, that now I'm rethinking ever riding one again after reading replies to this thread!

Hey accidents happen so if you like them go for it. For me the accidents only increased my desire to skip them. I was well on my way to hating them before those things happened.

Enterprise type ride sounds cool. Are there any in the Northeast?

Ummmm...

Great Adventure has Spinmister. Dorney and Lake Compounce both have an Enterprise ride. I'm sure there are more.

Dorney Park, and Six Flags Great Adventure have an Enterprise. Probably some other parks do too.

The only Chaos I saw open this year was at Keansburg Amusement Park, and that one was closed for the first part of the season. I like Chaos ride myself, their a bunch of fun if you know how to shift your weight at the right time to get the car to flip like crazy.

Other than the ones that Hercules mentioned, there aren't any others in the North East.

However, Six Flags New England has Nightwing, a ride very similar to an Enterprise. The only difference is that you ride in a flying position, and people frequently say it loads slowly, has long lines, and is painful.

I imagined that those "Fly-Away" Enterprises aren't exactly comfortable. The Dartron "Cliffhanger," which is a lay down Paratrooper, is painful enough.

The Chaos rides are built by Chance, which, IMO, build pieces of junk. That being said, I still enjoy the rides, and will ride them given the chance.

They have had more then their share of problems, but they do not have the problems that King Yoshi seems to think. If the restaints were to fail at least once a year, they would not be operating at all.

SFGAdv and SFA's rides were operating early in the season (I saw both in operation), but were shut down after three accidents at other parks.

My bad-I didn't realize what the Enterprise type of ride was. I've been on Spinmeister and Witches Wheel in Cedar Point. To me, the motion and ride are completely different from that of Chaos. I like them both.

I rode the Chaos at CP in May and it was horrible, but then again I heard this is one of the poorly run ones. I'm sorry I never got the full experience, but also happy that I never really put my life in danger.

BTW - Nightwing at SFNE is horrible and the sensations it gives are nothing like an Enterprise. I never knew what it felt like to be claustrophobic until I was on Nightwing. I seriously had trouble breathing due to the lack of mobility this ride provides.

Most Chaos rides have poor cycles, if they are at larger parks.

Huss should readjust Nightwing to make it better. Maybe Huss could team up with B&M to have a great ride experience, with comfy, roomy cars.

Or, maybe not

Anyway, are all Six Flags getting rid of their Chaos rides? None of them are running, right?

When Six Flags owns a park anything can happen. I'm not sure what will happen.

For example, they said that Astro World would close forever after this season, and then they want it back. Also, at Six Flags Magic Mountain, after removing the Orient Express, there is a rumor it may go back.

Ok, first off, none of that has anything to do with B&M working with another company. Six Flags has little control over that. Next, your facts are way off. They don't want AstroWorld back. If Daniel Snyder happened to buy the company then we would have been against getting rid of it. They don't want it back. And, I don't believe that Magic Mountain has completely removed Orient Express. I pretty sure it is in the plans to keep it.
