At this time I am planning on going to PPP. I was just curious if other members have went and what to expect.

How many rides are open during the day?

Should I just get the evening pass?

Are most the food stands open?

Any other info would be helpful, or just your experiences. This is a pretty long drive for me so I want to make sure I am ready.

I wish, I wish, I wish I could go... could anyone be more deserving? But, alas, every year it falls on the same weekend as a HUGE greyhound festival in Delaware that we do the majority of our business at...

Anyhow, from what I've heard, just about everything is open - not sure about the water rides, though. I think it's worth going for the all-day experience - but I'll let other, more seasoned Knoebels folks here fill you in. Whatever the case, have a GREAT time.

I'm no help on this at all since I've never been there on PPP, but I just figured that I would say that I'll be there this year myself

So what are you planning on doing as far as tickets. It is up on their website, but I am not totally sure of what to do.

I go every year, and it is still the best event out there.

They have gotten to the point over the years where they now have pretty much every ride open, save the water rides, as it has gotten too could for them by that point in the year. During the day, the whole park is open, including all food stands, and also additional food stands and outside venders are open for the Covered Bridge Festival.

On that note, the Covered Bridge Festival is a massive craft fair, with hundreds of vendors, as well as bus tours of the local covered bridges (there are more then 20 in the area). The park will seem very busy when you first get there, the parkinglot is usually packed, but most are at the festival and the rides, while busy, are never crowded.

The combo price is a great deal, go for it if you want to ride all day, you will get your money's worth. A lot of people (myself included) like to hit Dorney in the morning, and then head to KG for the night's events.

PPP itself is an event like none other. It is the park's one shot Holloween even, and they go all out. The have costume contests and a parade. They also deck out the Pheonix and Twister (last year they had all sorts of fun stuff set up in Phoenix's tunnel). They also deck out the Antique Cars as a dark ride, with fog machines, different scenes, and charactors. This has the added effect of shrouding the Phoenix in fog, making for some fantastic night time riding (they also outten the lights). It is the premier event of the year, in my opinion.

So for the evening pop are all the rides still open, I have rode about half the rides but I am coming with two newbies hence all the questions.

If all the rides are open why the ERT?

How far away is dorney BTW?

I don't want to hound I am just curious. I figured you had been there so I am glad you posted. Keep giving me info so I can really convince the other two what we should do. Even if it seems common sense go ahead.

Thanks

I'd say 2 hours away, but that's just a semi-educated guess. A lot of that travelling is on country roads too, but you already know that I think.

Man I'd love to go... maybe not this year, but sometime in the future.

Well, Knoebels' version of ERT is to let everyone ride, so it really isn't ERT much anymore, but that doesn't really matter, that particular night the line is actually longer for the two coasters then at any other time in the year, like 15-20 minutes. Of course, both rides seem to run like the coasters of the Gods during PPP, with the added maintaince, the cool autum nights, and the lack of lighting and added effects, so no one minds waiting.

Even though they say they will open more rides if avalible, from my experiance every adult ride in the park opens back up by 7pm, if not sooner, and all are open during the day.

Dorney is less then two hours from Knoebels. Because the waterpark is closed, they have a reduced rate and usually by going at opening, you have the run of the park until about 1:00 or so, when you should probably be leaving anyway, plenty of time to get in loads of Talon and Steel Force rides.

I went back to the website. So Haunted Mansion is included in the Evening, but not during the day. so what do they have a couple different wristbands?

Think I'll be there for the first time, but since my nephew's birthday party is earlier in the day, I'll probably only be there for the evenings events. Can one purchase a wrist band that late, or are they only available during the day?

The actual night event is from 5-10. There are separate wristbands for during the day which are $15. The event itself is also $15. So they are two separate wristbands anyway, so yes, you can get one later on without a problem since the day ones don't matter for Phoenix Phall Phunfest itself.

So now that we know about a good amount of people that are going to the event, are we like planning on meeting up or something like that? I know that it is still a few weeks away, but, I'm just kind of anal about that kind of thing and like to set plans and stuff. If there were an embarassed face I would use it. Go ahead and make fun of me

Yeah, every ride is open from like 12-6, then most of the rides close at 6 then reopen at 8 till 10, with like the exception of kiddie land. The Mansion and coasters stay open the whole time along with a few other things. I highly suggest going on the Antiques since they always have it jazzed up. The wristbands, well I would go on the website to figure them out, too damn confusing for me. Most of the food stands will be open till 6 and a few past that, but I love going to the craft fair and eating all the stuff out there before 6, thats when the craft fair is over. I suggest the "Make your own burger" stand. Anyhow, have a good time. I am out.

Me neither. It depends on if I work Saturday morning or not.

My question, what is everyone doing about Saturday night? Kamping? Hotel? Anyone have any plans?

I usually kamp. Anyone want to split a site? Get together for a kampfire?

We should get this ball rolling.

Well, it's all good. Just let me know what you guys are going to do about the Dorney thing. I might not either bother with it myself unless anyone else is going. I'm going to jam pack the next weekend with parks, so I might as well take a break anyway and just do PPP that day. Whatever though.

I'm out for the camping thing. My girlfriend will be coming along and she is not that excited about the Knoebels thing anyway, not to mention going camping.

You may want to reconsider that. GCII is once again offering tours of their shop, they are very interesting and you get some insight on how a coaster is built from the ground up.

GCII is located less then 20 minutes from the park.

Well, looks like I will just be doing the Knoebels thing, no Dorney. Need to get some time in on the Flyers anyway

I am staying the night and the next day I am going to check out the GCII tour in the morning (directions will be below), and maybe take the long way home to hit up Hersheypark on the way back, or maybe even Dutch Wonderland, as I have yet to ride Sky Princess (haven't been there since I was a little kid).

Here are the directions to the GCII office from Knoebels.

Take Rt 487 South past Sheetz and Elysburg to Rt 61 North ( 6 miles) At the intersecton of 487 and 61 make a RIGHT at the light.

Stay on 61 North (12 miles) to the intersection of Rt 61 and 890 South there will be a bar Dan's Den at the intersection. Once you make the LEFT you will see a Sunoco gas station.

Stay on 890 for about 6 miles. The office will be on your right. Look for the GCII logo 890 Rentals sign and flagpole out front.

It looks like the tours are going to run from 10AM until about 2PM. They say the train for Beech Bend is about 80% complete. Also, they will have donuts and coffee for everyone as well as some give-a-way stuff.
