As enthusiasts, we have all encountered line cutters (if you haven't you are really lucky or oblivous to it!). A few questions and points of discussion:

Im sure we all dislike it, but do you do anything about it? IE asking the person to get back in line, or pointing it out to an employee.

Do you feel that parks should take greatet measurements to prevent line jumping? (like what Great Adventure is doing supposedly)

Anything else would be good too, like, whether you are being a "snitch" or a "vigilante" or just serving the righteous parkgoers along with yourself.

3..2..1... go!

Most of the time, I am just too nice, that is as long as a person asks. Other times when a person does not ask, well, I don't say anything either There was this one time though at Dorney. I was with my uncle and it was the first year of the reign of terror (Cedar Fair took over) and the line cutting definitions were up and rules and such. We were in line of Thunder Creek Mountain and this girl blaintantly cut the line to get to her group of friends. My uncle spoke up to one of the ride ops and they were removed from the line, but not from the park. Everyone was very happy that someone spoke up about it.

Waiting on line for X last summer I laid into two kids that were about 10-11. After waiting in line for 45 minutes with a hour to go before SFMM closed they decide to add the second train causing a 20 minute delay and these two kids (one big mouth and one follower) decide to start cutting under the bars of the queue in the station. I walked up to them and told them nicely that they had accidentally cut in front of a lot of people and had two choices. 1) Walk to a spot in the line behind all the people they cut or 2) I would personally make sure they were escorted out of the park. They moved to the back of the line. But generally I won't confront people directly but will tell a nearby ride op. As a single rider I usually get on the ride before them anyway.

It's like most things if the park really dropped the hammer for a little while these things would stop, but most people including myself are a little too non confrontational. As a customer I don't feel that it is my job to stop them although I have said something a couple times, I usually am pretty lucky and haven't had serious problems. I do hate when the ops don't say anything and they see it happen, course I have also seen parents who let their kids run rampant and never say anything which in turns breeds another inconsiderate prick into the world. I really do think a lot of our countries problems stem to the fact that too many parents want their children to look at them as "cool" instead of being a parent.

Wow did I ramble back on point line cutters suck!!

Haha, I love what larry did as SFMM, that's great. I usually don't do anything about it, but it is frustrating. Still, I try and be passive about these things and not let little things like that ruin my park experience.

One thing that everyone complains about at Six Flags America is when the quene is next to empty, and someone climbs under the bars, and the ride operators get on the inetercom saying "HEY YOU GO BACK, YEAH I'M TALKING TO YOU"
I actually appreciate that, because when there's someone walking around the bars, they jumped in front of them.

But honestly, I'd tell a ride op if any were nearby, which there never are.

I don't mind if a few kids cut ahead in line. I mean, the longest that could extend my wait is about 30 seconds.

There was a time at BGW though when I was waiting for the front row of Nessie. After an hour of waiting, I was next in line with my sister. Out of nowhere, some handicapped kid boarded the train before us. We were told by an attendant to just wait for the next train, but the ride ended up breaking down right after their ride! We had to wait an extra half hour for the ride to work again. It's irritating to think that if we were only two people ahead in the line, we would've saved ourselves 30 minutes...

Naw, I never complain at theme parks. The ride was worth the wait.

I am also one of those people who ignores about 95% of what goes on around me. I am not a people person so I am not trying to start up conversation so I also rarely see other things going around me. I do get mad when people push up on you when you are waiting in line. Like it isn't hot enough already.:fire:

I hate when the park employees tell you to get off the rails. I guess they have to in order to avoid lawsuits, but seriously...

I hate ignorant people. SFOG has a new policy where you cant bring glasses onto a coaster if they dont have straps. I saw a woman totally ignore the ride op's announcements over and over for like 2 minutes until she got out of her chair and walked back, and then once they left the station the woman put them back on.. ignorance like that pisses me off as much as line cutters.

Totally agree with you bob hence my comment about people who act like telling your child no will hurt there self esteem. We live in a world where all people should be treated equal so you should also follow the freaking rules.

As far as the rail comment I look at it like why the heck do you need or want to be on the rail. What these people enjoy a piece of metal crammed in their backside or what a metal bar is so comfortable I'm thinking of changing my matress to one of these. If you can't handle the line without sitting on the rail get out of the line and find a bench thats what they are there for.

I don't sit on the rails. In a really long wait, I will lean on them, but I hardly ever sit on them.

Well why the heck would anyone care if you leaned against them? I understand about people who stand on the lower rails...

I guess when I've been waiting in line for an hour, I get kinda bored and, like many of the people around me, I sit on the rail. I only do this in line for slow-loading rides though, and the rails aren't high enough to cause injury if I fall, so I don't see what the problem is.

I don't seem to care, although I'd really like to rip their throats out. But my dad, whose usually with me, makes a big point about it. By the time he's done with them, he's crying.

Leaning on the railing isn't that bad. They don't want people to sit on it because you can falland then the twit that fall si likely to sue.

But I can agree if they were to make the queues more interesting and wait time less they woudl have fewer problems.

I don't know when I went to Virginia the waits were between five and ten but they were still perched on the rails like a pack of horny teenage vultures.

DonLt EVER sit on or duck under the rails at Lake Compounce cuz youLll be verbally assaulted by the ops, especially the ones for the Wildcat.
