Mine was Alpengeist in 97.

I didn't have a clue about the different companies until I was working at BGW on Drachen Fire and they were building Alpengeist and we got to talk to some of the engineers from B&M and they gave us alot of info. I knew from then, any time I saw the box track design that this will be a great ride.

Mine was Apollo's Chariot, a very good start, I think. I doubt I'll ride a better one

Welcome to the site

Apollo's Chariot, that is a heck of a start to a B&M list. Those mega coasters are awesome.

I have learned a lot about B&M over the past year. What kind of information did you find out from those engineers WAR? Was it just general stuff?

They were talking to us about why they didn't build Drachen Fire, which alot of people know now. They talked about why most coasters they build have that dip and straight piece then the drop. It makes it so the train evens out and then hangs but can get more speed on the way down. They said a ton about safety. Brakes, restraints, and the technolgy of the wheels. It was amazing. Alot of people hate how most B&M's have mid course brakes but it makes it possible to run 3 or more trains, which most of you know now too. They talked about the box design track, and how it gives so much more strength and support. At the time, they were talking about a new coaster they were building that gave you a flying sensation. It sounded wild at the time. That was a while ago, so with the advent of the computer and coaster sites, most of what they told us is public knowledge.

I didn't know about the dip on the drop allowing more speed. That is interesting. I always wondered about that. Thinking back though, it makes sense and really is the case in comparison.

It figures that they talked about safety. That is a big area for them and really gives them points in my book I'm so glad they broke away from Intamin when they did.

Good stuff there WAR

Hey, no problem.

I love B&M. In my opinion, B&M is far and away the best in the biz! The only B&M I didn't like was Vortex at PGA. But it was older.

My first was Raptor and it is still my favorite B&M ride.

Vortex @ Carowinds was my first. Not one of their best, but definitely an example of the durability and cutting edge design (of the time) they use.

Just my two cents.
