Great old-fashioned dark ride/tunnel of love feel to it. Scenes arent very exciting and the overall "story" of the ride was lost on me. But it was a fun, nice, quiet ride to cool down and relax on after a full day in the park. Its a simple ride, but thats all it really needs to be.
The Old Mill at Kennywood is truly the crown jewel when it comes to a classic dark ride! This nostalgic ride will take you back to how parks used to be. Very fun and not that scary at all - even the youngest kids would enjoy this. Rather long for a ride of this type, which is nice. Believe it or not, this ride is over 100 years old, which is amazing when you look at its condition. Kennywood does a marvelous job of maintaing its older rides like this one. If you want to ride one thing that exemplifies the storied history of Kennywood, then ride this classic! Nothing can beat a leisurly trip through "Hardheaded Harolds Horrendously Humerous Haunted Hideaway" - yes, thats right, that was what this ride was called for most of its existence, but most people simply referred to it as The Old Mill! A living piece of amusement park history!!
Good for history. Its a fun ride to check out if you have the time.
A classic dark ride thats not big on thrills, but its not suppose to be. Kennywood has done a great job maintaining this piece of theme park history.
Ahh the memories. I have been enjoying this dark ride for 20 years now, just a short time of its life. I will always remember getting in trouble by the attendants for either rocking the boat, or screaming, or splashing water, or stopping the boat, or getting out of the boat, etc. etc. Anybody remember the old Nikes that one skeleton had on? Classic ride and one of a kind. Worth riding by far.
Ah yes, classic dark rides, there is nothing more relaxing and enjoyable than one of these. The calming effect of the water with rather humorous scenes make this a crown jewel. They better never get rid of this piece of historic fun.
Not scary, not exciting, but from a historical perspective, very unique. One of the oldest operating rides around anymore. If I am not mistaken, a lift hill and drop once was located at the end (as with most old mill / lost river rides) but disappared years ago.
Definitely worth your time to check out the Old Mill. No, theres nothing terribly frightening about it, its just fun and nostalgic. Its also a nice change of pace and suitable for the little ones. Its also hard to believe that its more than 100 years old- Kennywood takes GREAT care of this classic!
If you are into theme park history take a ride on the Old Mill. This ride was built in 1901, thats right its over 100 years old. This is a boat ride / darkride that is fairly large. This ride is pretty dated, but at 100 years old I think its OK. I enjoyed this piece of amusement park history.
