Kumba! The coaster that is responsible for Busch Gardens on the map for having amazing coasters and is worth a trip over to tampa to experience. The first thing that catches my attention is the loud "roar" it produces. I mean, I could here it all the way from the Nairobi section of the park...I can see where it gets its name. Not much theming here though, the color of the coaster fits nicely with the jungle congo area. The coaster itself is a B&M masterpiece. I love how the 114 ft loop goes over the lift hill. Going under the bridge to the cobra roll is a nice element added to the ride. The dive loop- another nice touch and of course my favorite, the interlocking corkscrews. The end of the ride ends going through a little dark cave and a nice helix. Kumba is an awesome rollercoaster, the only downside is, over the years it seems like Kumba has been getting a little rough over the years. Not Phyton rough but just a little rough. Overall, Kumba is a great coaster, it hardly ever has a line, and it is not to be missed when your at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.

I remember a time not so long ago when Kumba was the MOTHER of all coasters (at least in the southeast). Now it has been dwarfed by taller and faster ones, both at BG and across the country. Nevertheless, it has aged gracefully and still delivers all the speed and force of a newer coaster. The initial drop into that insane loop will have you out of your seat before you know it, and it remains my favorite drop on a steel coaster, behind SRoS. Kumba is also extremely smooth. The only place where you might encounter some headbanging is through the corkscrew at the end, but its mild compared to the poundings normally doled out by Arrow or Vekoma machines. Kumba was my first "major" steel coaster, and it will always have a special place in my heart.

Kumba was probably one of the best sit-down loopers I have ever ridden. There was virtually no line when I rode, so I was able to get a seat in the back row almost immediately. I like the way the lift goes through the middle of the first loop. The dive loop was insane, and the zero-G roll made me feel like i was flying out of the seat! The rest of the ride consisted of four more inversions and a fun helix, all coming together to make a great ride, easily scoring a 9 out of 10 and a place in my top-ten list.

After re-riding this coaster, I had to give it a better rating. This coaster is awesome, especially from the back rows. The drop is awesome and this ride is really long. The tunnel at the end is one of the coolest sounding things ever.

Kumba has aged amazingly. A lot of B&M coasters have a very similar layout as this, but none of them are nearly as powerful as Kumba. And when you consider that this pretty much came first, and is still better, then you know its a damn good ride.

This was a very comparable ride to Montu. It is B&M, well themed, very smooth, and very exciting. It was definitely my second favorite ride in the park, right next to Montu of course. The first drop into the vertical loop is brilliant, very forceful!

Kumba is AWESOME! If you like standing looping coasters, it gets no better than this! I liked it a lot and would ride it again every visit to Busch Gardens.

This was actually my favorite ride in the park. It seemed to go very fast and only got better through the day. It was smooth and comfortable as well. I love how the "B&M roar" can be heard all over the park.

Great coaster. One of the best B&Ms Ive been on for sure; it deserves enough credit solely for its history, over a decade old, and vicious pace. It simply nails every inversion at an intense speed. I was so disoriented when I walked off it, the most Ive been in a long time. A high 8, but despite its age I wish it had a little more original layout (just seemed like it went from element to element) and the loading was a bit slow. Its more of an abstract thing I guess. Nonetheless, still arguably the best ride @ BGT.

This ride is pure adrenaline. Once the chain lift lets go, it is time to hold on. I cant believe that this coaster has been running for well over a decade. My favorite element is definately the dive loop that just seems to come out of nowhere. It also is fun at the end with the ride running near the ground and through buildings. It makes it feel like it is going much faster than it is with all of the visual stimulation. Finally, the Roar of the coaster is ominous throughout the park. It can be quite intimidating. I am jealous that my home park doesnt have a timeless classic like Kumba.
