This ride is so great. Its so old i love it. The firefighter theme is amazing and it combines dark ride, water ride, and roller coaster all in one ride. I hope they never tear it down.
It was definitely a unique little experience riding Fire in the Hole. The dark ride effects were really showing age, but it was a pretty long dark ride so that makes up for it. The drops were fun and the water splashdown got me wet but not soaked, which is a really good thing in my book.
Blazing Fury is a great campy little number. Sure its a bit older, but it still retains quite a bit of charm. It does an excellent job of building up anxiety that is then released in the splash down, which caught me completely by surprise on my first ride. The theming is totally decent. I really enjoyed the subterranean waterfall, as well as the mechanical man saying, "You look like youve been kissing that steam train" as hes being chased by the mechanical woman. Smelling burning wood was a nice touch as well. The drops were quite fun, but had a bit of roughness. Yet, I enjoyed dropping in near complete darkness. To get the full effect Blazing Fury should be experienced in the front seat. This makes the dark spots darker and makes you feel as if youre in there alone. Is this a coaster? Is this a dark ride? Who cares! Its great fun, and so much better than most of the rides one might do just for the credit.
The first time I rode this ride around, I was really confused. The park map said this was an indoor roller coaster going through a burning town. I wasnt really expecting a themed ride as much as a roller coaster that went by some fake fire. The ride began, moved through the first scene. Then the second. Then the third. There was no roller coaster at that point. Eventually, there was a drop. Then another small drop, and then a third small drop that splashed through a pond. This wasnt a ride that I would call a roller coaster, and I feel that it shouldnt have been called a coaster. It should have been called a dark ride instead. The trains were coaster-like, but with the small drops werent really enough to be called a coaster. Pirates of the Caribbean has drops in it, but it is not called a thrill ride.
Otherwise, this was one of my favorite rides in the park besides from them calling this a coaster. The animatronics were old and dated, but this was a classic attraction that was lots and lots of fun. I would say that for theming factors, this was favorite ride in the park.
FIRE IN THE HOLE! This a great, but rough ride. This was one of my first roller coasters. It is a dark ride with i think three drops, the last one into a pool of filthy water thats probably been ther since the park opened. But this is still a good dark ride.
This is a very cool ride! I love the that its like your riding into a train which scared me at first!(I know I was a baby but I was only 6!)This ride is cheesy at the begging but I still love it!
great ride i loved it. the best place to sit is in the front, thats where u get the most wet. blazing fury almost never has a long line.
Times ridden: 1 ~ Ride experience: 7 ~ Fun factor: 9 ~ Landscaping: 9 ~ Evaluation: Blazing Fury combines the surprise of a dark ride with the excitement of a roller coaster. The theming inside of the building and throughout the ride is very well done. The ride itself isnt very thrilling, but is sure is fun and full of surprise, especially the finale.
Blazing Fury is awesome for what it is. Its been in operation since 1971, so that just adds to the phenomenal lasting impression. I mean, it has got a long way to go before it reaches Disneys enchanting Haunted Mansion, but for a small Smoky Mountain theme park in Silver Dollar City, it really was awesome, and stood the test of time. The drops are still exciting if you havent rode it in a while, the splash at the end is unexpected, and the greatest part, the kids that are to small to ride Thunderhead and Tennessee Tornado, this ride is perfect for, because they get the roller coaster feel, on a humurous small level thrill ride. I took my little cousin on it, and she couldnt have been happier.
Fun classic dark ride! While it seems that many of the effects have stopped working over the last few years, the coaster drops are still fun and the water splash is surprising to first time riders. Definitely a "must-ride" while at Dollywood!
