This ride is to short and you dont even get wet. I was expecting more. I like the trolls and the polar bears but the drops could have been bigger so maybe you cold get wet. Epcot and MGM both need water rides damnit.
The drops arent very good. Going backwards was the best part. When you enter the theater to watch the movie, run for the exit immediately. The movie is a waste of time. If the line is short, go on this ride.
Another floating track ride at EPCOT, another meidocre experience. We skipped the show since apparently its pretty lame (Ill try next time if I go myself) but the actual ride was once again very typical. Little bit of culture and tradition strapped in with some older Disney Imagineering magic and youve got something else for people to do at EPCOT.
It is better than the Pirates, but it is too short. Skip the show.
It was a pretty poor ride. It wasnt thrilling at all.
Well I will definately say that this is the best boat ride in the World Showcase! Actually not a bad ride. I absolutely love the three head man that tells you to disappear! Classic! I also really like the little port you finish in. I think this tries to educate you on some tradition of Norway, maybe even some legands, and tales. Which I think is a different aspect for EPCOT, instead of straight, proven facts.
a good boat ride. I rode it in the middle of the day with no wait. It got me out of the heat. But I didnt like waiting for the movie at the end that I skiped anyway.
I like it. Its probably most populated alongside American Adventure. The drops are simple. It might be a little scary the first time around.
Norway will forever be linked to the relentless Vikings that permeated their culture long ago. In fact, when I first think of Norway, I think of Vikings. Nonetheless, it’s only fitting that Disney decided to erect this attraction that effective captures Norway’s culture. However, in all honestly, this is a pretty mediocre attraction despite its popularity.
And speaking of its popularity, generally this garners 25-30 minute waits, but it does offer Fastpasses to avoid that wait, which is what I’d recommend. Moving past that, the ride’s façade looks great and really captures the Norwegian spirit, and the ominous view by the waterfall of the rotating platform definitely builds anticipation prior to ride’s, but ultimately, is the ride as good as its appearance?
Ultimately the Maelstrom just isn’t very good. While the boats look great and are very comfortable, the ride that ensues just felt random in my opinion. Some of the scenes effectively captured Norway’s culture such as the impressive polar bear animatronic and foliage included, but honestly I thought that the ride’s plot was lacking. The whole idea of being placed in danger by angry trolls just seemed weak and uninspired in my opinion. Also, while the backwards portion was cool, the ride just seemed on the short side and it just ended abruptly following the weak drop, essentially without a satisfying ending in my opinion.
Overall, the Maelstrom just isn’t as enjoyable for me as it is for others. Just I find the whole attraction’s story and plot to be random and uninspired in my opinion. But there are some redeeming qualities about the attraction such as how it succeeded in capturing Norway’s culture and the cool backwards portion. Still, the Maelstrom just isn’t Epcot’s best attraction in my opinion, but it is worth experiencing if you have time.
This ride is lame, it doesnt have any sizable drops or exciting turns. Its supposed to tell a story and it does, but its just not entertaining.
