This turned out exactly how I expected it would be. Manageable but not reridable. I would just recommend it to get the credit and say you did.

Its okay I guess. The drop was nice, but the loops were great and really thrilling. That foot chopper really got me before the insane inline twist. The ride was just really rough throughout.

SLCs are awful rides. they are so rough that you nfeel like you are fighting Mike Tyson and getting owned. The trains are uncomfortable. Pretty much SFNE should just level this ride even though I know they wont do it.

Prior to going to SFNE this year, I was compelled to look at the reviews of this ride as my memory was unpleasant but a lot of fans on this site seemed to rate Mind Eraser favorably. I rode this twice in late August this year with my 9 yr old son (who loved it) and this experience solidified what I had already decided: this coaster is horrible. Tomás de Torquemada would have been proud to have this ride in his arsenal of torture devices. After two trips on this steel horror, I felt like I went 15 minutes with Moe Howard boxing my ears. I tried everything to prevent this abuse; leaning forward, head pressed firmly to the back, autoerotic-asphyxiation. Nothing I did made this coaster even close to enjoyable. Only my undying devotion to my son made me climb back on this sun-faded red and turquoise nightmare a second time. Now before anyone even criticizes this review by stating "you werent in the right seat”, let me offer this: you should be able to enjoy ANY ride from ANY seat at ANY time without prejudice. Granted, some coasters will offer better rides than others based on seating location, but under no circumstance should a ride be intolerable anywhere. And that is what I found on this Vekoma PoS.

To quote Got_its review of Mind Eraser: "I know why its called Mind Eraser, because it bangs your head around so much you forget why you waited inline to ride it in the first place." This is very true, but Im a little more tolerant, which is why I gave it a nine. Sure, you might get a little dizzy after the ride(I did), but it was still very fun.

The Mind Eraser is my first encounter with an SLC and I am left puzzled by it. I mean the general public loves it and keep getting back in line despite complaining of the constant headbanging and headaches the ride dishes out. My experience on my first SLC is a mixed bag since for me some rides have been surprisingly tolerable and borderline fun, while a few have been absolutely brutal and migraine-inducing. However, the latter of the two experiences tends to be far more common unfortunately.

Of note, Mind Eraser received a fresh coat of paint for the 2009 season and it really stands out and looks great, though it’s just a shame the ride isn’t nearly as good as its looks. Generally this has a 10-20 minute wait, which just barely makes the coaster worth it. The station is very small, but you can wait for a seat. Surprisingly the front actually doesn't have that much longer of a wait than other seats so I often take it since it’s my favorite seat because of the enhanced view, especially of many incredible footchoppers the ride provides throughout the demonically twisted layout, especially the insane one before the double inline twist. Of all of the ride’s seats, honestly the middle seats have provided the roughest ride for me, so go figure.

One note before I detail the ride itself, definitely ride Mind Eraser in a defensive riding position. I like to ride with my head pressed firmly against the left side of my restraint, but even despite that and the restraint’s heavy padding, there’s plenty of headbanging still to be had. This technique just limits it and makes the ride moderately enjoyable rather than a nightmare.

Anyway, the ride begins with a good lift hill. I say good since there's no headbanging and it's cool to look down and not have anything but the ground beneath unlike on B and Ms. After that, the real ride begins. Despite featuring some impressive inversions crammed into an unbelievably small footprint, they feature copious headbanging, especially the sidewinder which is simply one of the most painful inversions I’ve ever experienced as it literally is a ball-buster as the train comes to a dead-halt for a moment, slamming me into the restraint. I however love the incredible footchopper before the double inline twist since it always gives me a casecardiac arrest and I find the inline twist to be enjoyable, intense, and relatively smooth. But the finale is very slow and very jerky, a fitting end for this mediocre coaster, so beware.

As for my final feelings on my first SLC, it really is a mixed bag. I mean it's somewhat enjoyable with all of the unique elements scattered throughout and the high intensity sustained throughout, but the headbanging just ruins this attraction’s lofty potential. Ultimately, the Mind Eraser is a sub-par coaster worth giving a chance, but just remember to ride in a defensive riding position or else be prepared for the worst.

I know why its called Mind Eraser, because it bangs your head around so much you forget why you waited inline to ride it in the first place. Haha Mind Eraser is certainly not a bad coaster by any means. I wouldnt call it rough so much as intence and fast paced. The Pink and Turquoise track can be seen upon arrival wedged in the back of the park in front of Superman and next to Badman. Enthusiasts get very tired of these "Hang and Bangs" but to the general public they are one of a kind and what percent of a parks attendance do enthusiasts really account for? Just because designs are over used doesnt make them bad, If there were only one or two SLCs through out the world Im sure they would pull much higher ratings. While I would rather ride Superman or Batman I always try to get a front seat ride on Mind Eraser every time I go.

This coaster isnt so great, but this version is not as rough as Darien Lakes installation. There was no mist on this version like in Darien Lake. Just a hair above average.

Better than average SLC, only for the fact that it doesnt try to rip your ears off the side of your head (i.e. its relatively smooth... well, as smooth as a "hang and bang" can be)
