This ride left me in a quandry. It was a one rough SOB ... thats all there is to it. Granted, at this point, most stand-ups are pretty rough on my head. However, I felt this was the best stand-up Id ridden to date. Compared to Chang & Mantis, this one is smaller and shorter ... but that actually helps it a bit. The tight layout area, the natural setting, it all comes together to produce an intense ride that feels fast and wild and out-of-control. You actually get to feel the elements here. Id definitely ride it with every single trip I make to the park, I just wish there was someway any stand-up could be a bit smoother on my head.

Iron Wolf is a Stand Up rollercoaster located in County Fair. You will go thru an 85 high loop and go into a corkscrew at an intense speed. After the corkscrew you will experience some vert tight turns and curves. All in a matter of 44 seconds. The best time to Ride Iron Wolf is first thing in the morning and at night.

Iron Wolf was my first stand-up, and I still feel it is one of the most underrated coasters out there, and especially at SFGAm. The layout is very good, full of twists and turns, especially the 2nd half, and the drop actually packs a surprising about of airtime. I would give this ride an 8 if it werent for the much rougher ride in the back - I almost always ride in the front row, and I do that for a reason. Still, it is not the roughest coaster I have ever been on, and is still a fun coaster to take 1 or 2 spins on when you visit the park.

Very neutral ride. It had great speed and wasnt to painful in terms of roughness, but the headbanging was pretty bad. If the headbanging was removed it woudl probably be the best standup out there, but since it has so much ear burning itll have to settle for the worst of the 4 I have ridden.

I dont see why everyone calls this ride painful. There _is_ some headbanging, but I weigh the seat down a litte bit so it doesnt hurt my balls. If you keep a straight neck and ride near the front, youll see what a great ride this is. Sure, it isnt insanely fast and it doesnt have 10 inversions, but you still get a great ride from it. Also, when I rode it before I was a coaster enthusiast(meaning I didnt know how to ride), I still had a lot of fun on it.

This is a great ride - IF you know how to ride it. Thats the problem on this coaster, people have to lean to one side to avoid getting banged in the head. Some people are so nervous of getting a headache, they dont know which side to turn to. But do not fret! If you can control yourself, get in the front row, and lean at the right time and you will have a good time. Just watch out for the crouch!

Man has this thing aged badly. I never rode it when it first opened, so actually I have no idea if it was ever smooth. My first year riding it (I think 2001 or 2002) actually wasnt that bad, and it was somewhat enjoyable. Over the last few years though, its hit pretty hard. The first drop is cool, the layout is fairly decent, but the thing just beats you up. Its rough, but is nothing in comparison to what Vortex at PC is.

Bradman77 knows the true pain of iron wolf. being male and riding iron wolf may be the biggest mistake you could ever make. Not only does it give you severe head trauma, but if your balls arent hurting after this....well....you arent a man. nicknamed the castrator for obvious reasons, this is the ONE ride you should skip at GA, unless your a girl, in which case the ride might not be quite as painful. (I rode it again on June 10th, and had a better experience....I give it a 5)

As the years go on I continue to hate this ride with greater passion, and that is why I have to update my review. The ride is not only painful in every aspect, but it has no entertainment value at all. Fill a giant metal box with people, violently shake it around a and you got Iron Wolf. Its the only ride I skip at Great America as well.

This ride did not age very well. Its now one of the roughest coasters Ive been on. Its so rough that I hate riding it now. Not that I ever really liked it in the first place. Its the only B&M coaster I hate.
