I wasnt very fond of this ride. The airtime was fun, it was unpredictable, but ive ridden better woodies. We waited an hour and thirty minutes for it. Id say it wasnt worth it, but worth a try.
this is a great ride. you usualy dont get good wooden rollercoasters anymore. but in the rain it is not fun at all.
Another great winner for Six Flags! There are numberous Viper coasters at other Six Flags parks, but this Viper is the only wood variety. When I rode this, it was at night and it was even more of a thrill speeding through the hills. Viper is of course based on the world-famous Cyclone at Coney Island in New York (which I have yet to experience for myself) and the Viper gets as close to the original. Great job, Six Flags!
Un freaking believeable. I expected NOTHING from this coaster - a homemade cyclone? Are you kidding?? Viper reminded me of every other Cy-clone - awesome air all over the tight layout. Wait, never mind - Psyclone didnt have awesome air, TX Cyclone had ok air and both of those + the GA Cyclone suffer from roughness. Viper? It was a pretty darn smooth coaster that delivered incredible airtime. That combination? Oh yea, this is what GA Cyclone WISHES it could be, thanks Im sure in large part to Great Americas excellent maintenence staff and it not being a Dinn/Summers. The hills hidden behind the lifthill are simple amazing, stand up out of your seat sort of air, that kind that has you grabbing for the buzz bar. Just an awesome woodie, and somewhere in the middle of my top 10 wood as I write this.
Definately my favorite woodie at this park. I really like how compact this ride is. I think the layout is good, because you come back by places youve been which gives you that unpredicatable feel. I like it, I have rode better, but definatly have rode worse.
Times ridden: 1 ~ Ride experience: 8 ~ Layout: 9 ~ Appearance: 9 ~ Airtime: medium ~ Reride factor: medium ~ Evaluation: Viper is not a bad wooden coaster by any means. Its length, twisted layout, smoothness, and unpredictability make it one of my favorites at the park. My only concern is the horrible dispatching. Even though I only had two or three groups ahead of me, getting on took about 15 minutes. Its totally unacceptable when a small line keeps getting larger while the ride operators are dispatching trains at a snails pace and goofing around at the same time.
A mild disappointment for me. The train just meandered along. I sat in the back. The train never really seemed to be going very fast, I expected more lateral gs and the only very good air I got was on the double dip. It wasnt horrible but is just wasnt "Great" to me. I will admit I only got one ride which is very out of character for me on a woodie, but lines, maintainence and rain made it tough to ride every coaster on this day
I gotta give this thing a 10 simply because its only the third wooden coaster Ive ever been on that I wanted to ride again. The other 2 being The Beast and Gemini. This is a very smooth coaster for being wood, a little tough on the shoulders during turns but not enough to discount it at all. Very cool.
Might be the best wooden that I have ever been on. Not that rough, and has a lot of punch.
Best woodie Ive ever been on. Walk on, tons of airtime, and amazingly smooth
