this ride was ok. it had pretty good air time 4 a few sec. wen u look at high roller as it zooms by, it looks out of control. and it is. but dont worry. its meant to be like that. but it was a good ride.
Great classic coaster. One of the few ACE classics. Awesome nostalgic ride. Large comfy seats make it better, although being tall, my knees always seem to get squished into the back of the seat in front of me. Airtime in the back seat rocks on the first drop.
The High Roller is a great example of a classic woodie. The original out and back design is simple yet great. The ride provides good airtime and an old fashion type of feel. Considering it is the oldest coaster in the park. It opened sometime in the 1970s. The ride has a mellow pace with great negative gs. I think its one of the best woodies I have ever been on. Easily the best a Valleyfair because its the only one but we are all cool with that. Props to Valleyfair for keeping it in good running condition. Dont let a great ol one go.
Ratings Based on RCT Rating System:
Excitement: 5
Intensity: 4
Nausea: 3
You catch some major air-time on this clasic woodie, its unbelivable!
A fun out and back woodie. A lot more airtime than I expected. Very little shaking and rattling. Even my 6 year old little sister enjoyed it a lot. A very fun ride that most of the family will enjoy.
I am a HUGE fan of Valleyfair, but I dont like this ride that much. Its wooden, the drops arent big at all, and the only fun part is that it is really rough and feels as though its gonna derail. Plus, half of the ride is just in a slow circle with no drops or anything. I do like the trains, though. Im quite sure theyre new (as opposed to the coaster itself), because theyre comfortable and in good shape.
I agree with JohnWC. But I wont give it full marks because I think that if your rating somthing against other coasters you should give an advantage to pioneers of the type and I dont concider this one. Great Ride!
One of my all-time favorite wooden coasters. Try riding this one at 11 pm w/ yourself as the only person on it (if youre lucky enough
). Much better later in the day. The fronts the only place to go, the back and center shake way too much.
Im giving this full marks for being what it is ... a very good classic wooden coaster. Its out and back, loaded with mild airtime and fun turns. Love the classic seating and the old-fashioned lapbars. This ride just delivers great fun all the way and got everyone in our group into the spirit of enjoying a fun day at an amusement park.
Back in the day.. the train was manually released which gave more to the feeling of being at the mercy of gravity/physics. This ride is old and tempermental And is hard to rate because of these factors. Ive had alot of fun as a kid on it, though its always been rough. Nice roomy bench seats though. Good ride.
