The Haunted Mansion is a great Dark Ride. Consistently rated among the best in the country and one trip through this haunted residence and the reason why is obvious. Its scary. About a third of the way through this fairly long ride I found myself clutching tightly to my equally terrified girlfriend. (Thats right Im man enough to admit it) Anyway, being larger, it takes all of the best aspects from say Moreys Piers dark rides and combines them. I dont want to give too much away, but as you would expect its dark and things jump out at you. At least one thing even touches you. The house has quite a bit of variety from ghosts to aliens, to weird haunting lights, and the usual macabre Dark Ride fare. Hands down one of the best rides Ive ever been on and its just another reason to take the trip out to Nowheresville, PA. You wont regret it. Final Rating - 10 (Superior)

The Haunted Mansion was an excellent dark ride. I had never been on one such as this before, so it was new to me. The first thing I noticed, and liked, was how the cars just bang through the doors, now that was cool (at least to me). Those cars were nice and comfy too. The ride may be older but the props were still effective and well-done. There were a few parts that really got me, though I wont reveal them as others have. A few of yall know what Im talking about anyway, and the rest of yall can probably guess. The ride was longer than I thought too, theres a bunch of stuff in that building! Overall, a fun dark ride worth the extra buck twenty.

A great dark ride with good special effects, very well maintained. It was fun, rerideable, average speed, it had a large capacity, and a long duration.

This thing scared the crap out of me. Im normally ok on ride threws, but this one was scary. My like cousin put me to shame. He was screaming and yelling at everything while I was curled up in the corner. Im usually ok, just not on the walk through ones. This one was so insane, it is kind of funny.

I have been on several Haunted House rides across the country but none of the others can compare to the Haunted House at Knobles. I rode this ride the first year it was built, and even with the little changes over the years it still is the best in the country! Harrumph!

Great, old-school haunted mansion. In a world where the best dark rides need high budget special effects, its refreshing to see a park use proven gimmicks in a haunted mansion to scare. Sure, the ride itself is rather cheesy, but is effective as got my dad and I to jump more than once. The floating skulls room is a great illusion and the trucks headlights and horns will have you jumpin right out of your car! People who dont like loud sounds or jumpy things may want to sit this one out.

**Possible spoiler**As others have said, one of the best dark rides around. Comparing this haunted house to the Magic Kingdoms is like apples and oranges,IMHO. Knoebels must be commended for keeping this ride up to par. Im glad I never rode it in the Monster Mash days-I can see how that would ruin it. Probably the brightest truck lights Ive seen on one of those type of gags. Also loved the bushman and his scream!

What a great dark ride! The truck was the most surprising part and I even knew about it before I took my first ride on it. You know a ride is special when you already know things about it and it still surprises you.

I know this 8 will be unpopular. I love the history of the ride, but the actual ride didnt do much for me. The truck did get me though, completely unexpected.

I think the old pretzel spook rides and other dark rides that I used to ride as a kid in Seaside Heights were much scarier. I never got goosebumps nor had the hair on my arms stand up at Knoebels.

Maybe everyone built this one up too much, however, all the other classics at Knoebels lived up to the hype.

Most of the characters could have been scarier versus funhouse looking. Its like they tried to combine a haunted mansion with a funhouse theme so I must subtract for the mish mosh of theming. The aliens at the end just seemed out of place.

EDIT: Upgraded rating from an 8 to a 10 after re-riding it on 9/19 with my seven year old neice. I was more aware of what to look for (and listen for) and didnt remember how close some of the props came to hitting you. I was soaking wet from the rain the first time I rode in April, so I must have been in a highly critical and tempermental mood.
