Good ride but i feel the johnny dep stuff was unesasary.
Anaheims Pirates has this one whipped. The drops were weak, and a lot of stuff was missing. This ride fails to capture the energy and mood of the original. The Blue Bayou, my favorite Disney restaurant, is sadly missing here. If you read up on the matter, youll discover that they never intended to install Pirates in WDW. They thought it wouldnt be exotic enough considering Floridas proximity to New Orleans and the Caribbean. An entirely different attraction was planned in lieu of Pirates. When WDW opened, however, there were many complaints about the lack of Pirates at WDW. So, they installed this quick n dirty version to meet "the public need".
Pirates was probably the best Disney boat ride/dark ride combo. I really enjoyed the theming throughout the ride, a mix of old and new. Having not seen the movie, nor knowing the background of the ride, Im sure I missed some of the story, but still it was a neat ride.
always a fun ride with a short line. fun scenery and theming. i heard that they are remaking it to go with the movie more! BS! MAYBE THE MOVIE SHOULD GO AFTER THE RIDE LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO! ITS PERFECT HOW IT IS AND SHOULDNT BE CHANGED!
Its weird. I think Disneyland has a better ride. This ride is somewhat a little short to me compare to Dsineyladns Pirates, if memory serves me correct.
This is a unique ride experience. When I rode it last year some of the scenes were looking a little shabby. For the most part the ride is pretty calm, so it is a good spot to relax and take a load off to escape the sometimes chaotic Magic Kingdom. The scenes are very detailed.
This is another classic ride. To bad this was before Disney really did start themeing the lines. I just wish people would stop taking pictures during the ride. UGH!
Does it get any better than Pirates of the Caribbean? The ride is currently in rehab and I will not get to ride it on my upcoming visit, so I will go ahead and review it based on the original version. I know the one at Disneyland is far superior and has more drops, but even as it stands Pirates at WDW is still a great ride. Just sit back, and be immersed in the amazing show scenes. It is a fantastic voyage that isnt over before you know it like most rides. Some people are bored on this ride and talk during it, which really pisses me off. Nevertheless, this is classic Disney. Regardless of what happens during the rehab that will mesh it with the movies, it will still be one of the best dark rides of all time.
Love the original, but love this more...
The Paris one is even better but this one is great. Shame they are going to change it and i wont get to ride it while im there but i will always have the memories....
They are going to change the ride and give it aspects of the films. It annoys me why cant they keep it as it is? The California one is undergoing the same updates from April until July! But if you want to ride it with the original storyline you will have to make the trip to Paris, not bad for me as i live in England, an hour by plane!!!!! Better ride in France there are more drops than the Orlando one and is longer. The effects are better but somehow its just not the same as the Orlando one... Probably that it takes you 30mins to get to the boats even if there is no queue! And the weather isnt as good. But the old Orlando storyline will be greatly missed by anyone who has ever had the pleasure of riding this great ride!
An excellent ride that is only spoilt by the idiots with flash cameras lighting up the darkness and ruining the special effects. I found the same ride in California was longer though.
