My new favorite invert. This invert runs right along the south park entrance walkway and is visually stunning. A great ride with unique and varied inversions. The Batwing into the tunnel is a great element. In typical fashion the back is more intense but the ride is smooth from any seat on the ride.

EDIT: 11/1/04 - Now that Ive ridden Montu, I have to rate these inverts as equal.

Fast and compact, this is one of the more intense Inverteds that I have encountered.

The perfect B&M Invert in my opinion. After riding Raptor, Talon, both Dragons at IOA, and a couple of the Batman clones I think this one tops them all. Fantastic Coaster and severly underrated by the coaster community in my humble opinion.

Needless to say with the assimilator on the horizon of joining the coaster family at Carowinds, Top Gun is the best coaster at the park. While the experience is good, its even gooder in the front seat, especially when the mist is turned on. Its also a hoot trying to find your car while at the top of lift hill, if you were lucky enough to get a front seat parking spot at the south gate. The general consensus(hope I spelled that right) seems to be that its too short, and I feel pretty much the same. That costs it one point, another being the seemingly untrained employees who let cars go with sometimes just one person in a row! Training must be provided by my 12 year old brother, jeez.

Too short, but pretty darn good. I understand why its called "The Jet Coaster" now. Best ride in this park.

This is an awsome ride. It may not be as good as Montu, but according to statistics, its acually faster. Top Gun also has a great view of the parking lot when you reach the top of the lift. It gives a smooth, fast, and wonderfull ride.

Where to begin? Simply put: this ride is badass. Its got great pacing, a killer layout, its intense, and has the greatest inversion ever created - the batwing. Not as killer as Montu, but its a pretty close call. Not much theming at all, but what little thats there is pretty cool. Top Gun was a cool movie, so it makes for a nice them at all. Cant really think of why its "only" a nine, but it just doesnt have that certain something that I find on Montu. Just missing that extra...push. Fantastic ride, no doubt.

By far the best ride in this park and an overall good ride. I was rather partial to the batwing myself. It was the first one id been on on an invert and was quite pleased with the feel of it. Intense but not so much it kills ya. A good mid-sized family thriller. Why dont we see more batwings?!?!?
