Even today, I dont think there is a coaster you can have more all out fun on than Space Mountain. The little drops and quick turns always surprise me, the queue is at least decently entertaining, and the actual ride is full of anticipation.
What a classic, everything about this ride ia awesome. The intro with the lights, and all the fun turns in the dark. Simply put, this ride made me a Roller Coaster Enthusiast. I went from this, to riding rides like Batman the Ride, to riding coaster that are 310 feet and 93 mph.
For nostalgia purposes, is their a ride better than Space Mountain? I think not! It may not be the best thrill ride or the near the best coaster in the world, but the feeling you get from just riding it is enough to make it a legend in my book.
This ride was built nearly a decade ago, and, despite looking brand new from the outside, the ride itself feels like a poorly-built wooden coaster. Although you must give credit to Disney and co-creators FedEx for splashing out on modern and astonishing scenery, the ride could learn a lot from the AWESOME metal-bodied Space Mountain in Disneyland Paris. On my most recent visit, the illusion of space created by the attraction was spoiled for first-time riders, when the ride broke down as we prepared to board. The hologram space shining on the ceiling was de-activated, and parts of the old coaster could be seen from the station.
Although a must for your Magic Kingdom, make sure you get a Fastpass, and try not to expect too much from the old thing...
P.S. It takes nearly 10 minutes to get out of the dome by escalator, so I suggest you ignore the boring post-ride scenery, and get the hell outta there sharpish.
This is definately my favorite ride in Magic Kingdom. I loved the one night, before closing, where we were able to ride it 4 times in a row because there was no one in line!
The appeal is definately the dark... its not something that youre used to. The little dips and hops are wonderful too. I do think that maybe some updating would be good, some new lighting techniques and such. But such a fantastic ride that can amuse patrons of all ages.
Best ride at Disney, no doubt. Great theming is the highlight of this coaster. Ofcourse it doesnt pack the thrills of Hulk and other Orlando coasters but then again, its a pretty old coaster.
I loved Space Mountain the first time I rode it, but with advancements in roller coaster technology, it has lost a lot of its luster. It is hard to fully enjoy it, for example, after youve ridden Rock n Roller Coaster or Kraken. I would recommend that every guest ride Space Mountain. However, I think that it may be time for a major renovation with new tracking (if that could be done without raising the roof). It would be great with some loops and twists--or maybe a bobsled-style track.
When I was a kid, I was terrified of this ride and would never ever ride it. When I finally gave in, around age 9 or 10, I re-rode it 4 more times that evening.
Just incredible. Basic mouse coaster but the themeing and the style, the darkness, the glowing cars ... everything simple combines to make an experience thats still top fun today.
One of my favorites and a real classic. Space Mountains theming blows you away and the ride design itself is really cool. It would have been better if the ride was in COMPLETE DARKNESS but other than that, I love it!
THIS IS THE GREATEST COASTER IN THIS HISTORY OF MAN KIND!!! THIS IS THE KING OF COASTERS!!! BEST COASTER EVER!!! RIDE IT!!! IF YOU DONT RIDE IT, YOUR SOUL WILL BE IN DANGER!!!!!
