The Laser is a fast, wild, compact, and classic looping coaster made by none other than Anton Schwarzkopf. This ride is a Doppel Looping (or Double Looping) model which were first made in 1979 according to schwarzkopf.coaster.net. I think this used to travel around as a fair ride at some point, which it was made for if you notice the large flat portions that hold up the coaster. The trains are awesomely 70s with just a little lapbar to hold you in and cheesy streamlines. The trip up the lifthill is very slow due to some sort of weird lift system. I love how people comment that this ride isnt going to be that bad while in line and during the lift. Oh how little they know...The first hill is a steep diving curve that launches the train into 2 back-to-back, G force heavy loops which flood ones vision with those red and blue sparkles that you see before passing out. You would need to be an Air Force pilot to not feel this effect. After that the train slams into this turn that, at first, looks like its too tight to complete. After that you do a couple of swooping helixs and end with a horribly G force heavy flat helix which spits the train into the brakes. Few coasters compare to the sheer G force assault that the Laser dishes out. I cannot imagine what the Schwarkopf "Drier Looping" (or Triple Looping) is like.
Gs Gs Gs Gs Gs....very forceful ride even though its short. I like the fact that you have only lap-bars (without them it would be a lot rougher) and the double-loop is great.
This was my first looper, and honestly, at the time, I was scared out of my wits, then I wanted to ride it again and again. A little rough of a ride, the loops actually pull very high Gs, and I loose vision momentarilly every time.
UPDATE: The more I ride this, the more I love it. The intensity is something you dont get on newer coaster, yet it doesnt reall knock you around. The new paint job looks great too.
Too quick, I really just plain out dont like it that much.
There is always one coaster at every park that surprises me, and this was it. Looking at the coaster, you see a small drop with a very slow lift hill and you think to yourself, this cant be much of anything. Then you ride it. Wow. This ride never lets up. Tons upon tons of postive Gs in the loops combined with some great laterals and headchoppers makes for a great ride.
Classic Schwarzkopf design. Lap bars only and two very intense loops pulling some serious Gs. I imagine that in its day this was one seriously intimidating coaster, it still packs a punch and is surprisingly smooth for its age. Similar to Scorpion at BGT but better.
Great ride, love the smoothness of the track and the g- forces assosiated with the vertical loops. Best steel looping coaster in the region! I love this coaster and I hope they dont take it out cause its awesome!
It was one of the first looping ones I rode. That is probably why I still like it so much. It is a fast ride and the loops are fun.
Poor ride, waste of time. If youre at Dorney just ride Talon and Steel Force over and over and avoid this.
this coaster is just OK. it is a very short ride and pretty rough for a steel coaster. the loops were OK but all in all i found this ride not exciting.
