It is hard to believe that these pirates have been yo-hoing for over 40 years now. This ride is essentially an extremely elaborate dark ride, riding on a boat rather than a track (though the boat is of course guided by rails on both sides). The initial scenes in the swamp along the Blue Bayou restaurant and the drops into the cave are very relaxing. The next scenes with the skeletons among their treasures are neat, but then riders travel back in time through a time tunnel to see how all of this came about, and get to the real meat of the ride. The whole pirate attack on the Spanish town is carried out in great narrative detail, going from the initial attack on the fort to the drunken pirates getting what is coming to them by the end. Most of the new updated additions to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride occur during these scenes as well. Jack Sparrow shows up three times, with the Animatronic looking remarkably like Johnny Depp. Captain Barbossa is also present, though the resemblance to Geoffrey Rush is not quite as good. There is a great effect also with Davy Jones inside of the time tunnel. His face gets projected onto a mist waterfall under which the boats travel. Very cool. I noticed some of the music from the movie got added as well. In spite of these additions, the original classic storyline of the ride remains, so I think everyone will be pleased. It goes without saying that Pirates of the Caribbean is a must-ride experience at Disneyland.
This has to be the worlds best ride. It can never be out done. No other park has a ride close to this.
Pure Disney magic through and through. Remember folks... Were not necessarily rating based on thrills. ;-)
Wonderful, charming ride, full of imagination. Theres so many gags and sights that its hard to keep up. The animatronics look great, the sets are fantastic, and the theme music is catchy. Theres even a couple of drops. A classic.
It was a fun ride, too bad they couldnt update it to be more like the movie that Disney made (Yes, I do realize that the movie was based on the ride, but if they ever update it, i think they should make it more like the movie.)
This is a very good disney ride. It is not very exciting, even the drop, but the animatronics are great, and there is great attention to detail. I commend Disney for their great storytelling on this ride. The only downside is the long lines. The really great part is the part in the Louisiana swamp, and the voice that says "dead men tell no tales!"
Like many rides at Disneyland this is probably the best of its kind.Thrills, chills, and spills is pretty much this rides moto.
A Disney classic, and one of my favorite non-coaster rides. The drop is startling, and the robotic pirates are often hilarious.
I Liked it.And it was defanitly a good little adventure.9
