I liked this ride when I rode it. The line wasnt too bad. Weeving in and out of the canyons is fun and seeing the bat eyes when you go through the gave is awesome. When the spouts go off it makes it feel as if you are there. They did a great job with this ride. Im surprised it isnt higher on the list.

When I rode this roller coaster, it was a HUGE thrill to me! But now, having ridden some other MUCH more intense coasters, I realize that, if I was given the chance to ride it again, it probably wouldnt serve as a thrill to me in the least. Still, I really enjoyed this ride, and Im going to review it based on my opinion after riding it for the first time, not based on what I would think about it after riding it today. First of all, I remember the theming of this ride as being simply splendid... On the chain lift at the very beginning of the coaster, I recall there being actual water dripping from the ceiling, stalactites and stalagmites covering the ceiling and floor, and experiencing an eerie feeling that the cave was going to suddenly cave in on us. Then, the coaster began, and I saw some unique scenery covering all of the places that we seemed to "zoom" past. Everything was covered with the sand of a desert, and there were bones and skulls laying around all over the place! The ride seemed to be very fast and the hills steep at the time, but that most likely wont be the case for thrill seekers. Still, if you happen to be in the Magic Kingdom, be sure to check out this ride... Even though it may not thrill you very much, I can guarantee that you will still enjoy it! This was one of my favorite rides in the whole of Disney World, and I will never forget it!!!

An average family mine train type ride. The slowness and height allows for some good views of the park. As a regular coaster not too exciting.

What the hell is this? That's what I thought while riding Big Thunder Mountain. There was no speed whatsoever. It makes a great family ride, but that's about it. However I do give a thumbs up on theming, good job in that department, Disney. Too bad the coaster wasn't as good. UPDATE 10/15/2011: I am amending this review. I went back to Magic Kingdom this year and gave Big Thunder another go. It ran a lot better than my last experience. Plus it helped that I sat near the back this time around which enhanced the ride experience by a lot! So all of those negative comments I got for this review now is null and void! Big Thunder has bumped up in my ratings.

Big Thunder is really sweet. It is by far the best mine train I have been on, though admittedly I havent been on any of the later-model Arrows that are supposed to be pretty good too. Themeing is top notch and the ride is really sweet, especially considering its in-house. The chains were LOUD but other than that nothing to complain about - its not terribly fast but it is pretty smooth and the ride is wild at night (especially when full of us fools). One of the best rides that Disney has to offer.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is another well-themed family coaster. Its a typical mine train coaster with some turns and small drops. Some of the turns seemed underbanked, providing some side-to-side forces, but the ride is otherwise tame enough for almost all children above the height requirement. The lack of a big drop is a disadvantage for thrill-seekers, though.

Nicely-themed, but thats about all this sucker has going for it. I remember liking the chain lift, inside a "mountain", with rocks threatening to fall from overhead. After that, you get a handful of hills, a few twists and turns, and a drop or two. My favorite part of this ride was getting a bit of air time on one of the drops. Worth going on just to say you rode the thing, but dont expect much.
