I do not understand at all why a lot of people dislike the ride. The position you "stand" in never bothered me at all and Im not the kind to complain about roughness since its part of the fun for me. Exciting rollercoaster.

Ive always enjoyed my rides on the old stand up. Ive never found it rough or painful. The loop is nice and the rest of the layout is pretty good. Now that Ive been on Chang, Ill have to go back and see if this really is as bad as people say.

Edit- Yea, this thing is horrible. I never noticed the roughness before, but I did on my last visit. The hill and loop were wonderful, but the rest of the ride, my ENTIRE uper body was just tossed mindlessly about. The hills gave me almost no air. At least it was short. The first half is the only thing that saves this ride from being a 3 or 2. Oh yea, and there is a skunk nearby! How cool, it kind of sums up the ride. The riders saw it as we were getting ready to unload. I got a picture of the skunk too.

This is one of the most worthless rides ever built. It so short, so uncomfortable and so boring it just isnt worth the steel it is built with. There is just no point to try and compare this with B&Ms. The Riddlers Revenge, Mantis and the like are so much better, it isnt funny. Give points to TOGO for trying something different, but this fails in every regard possible. Considering how slow and long the line can be, the ride itself is too short and crappy. Quite a disappointment.

Its interesting that they can make a stand up coaster. And Shockwave is the only stand up coaster that I have been on.

Yeah...not much to say about the ride except its horrible. The restraints are uncomfortable, the seats are uncomfortable, and the ride itself is bad. I think the worst part of the ride is when the other train takes a longer time to get sent out of the station and you have to sit in this horrendous position while waiting for the other train to leave the station.......

APPEARANCE-6 It looked like it was well maintained and I have this thing for really small footprints so I was impressed. CAPACITY-3 One train, very weird stand up restraints could lead to a long day and judging from other peoples reviews I am probably right. RIDE QUALITY-5 I actually expected it to be worse. The restraints were so weird that I expected to be knocked out when I was finished, but it was ok. FUN-5 I rode front car which I almost never do because I hate the extra wait so that helped, the bunny hills were a plus but the small footprint which I enjoy looking at also greatly hindered this ride. RERIDE-2 Almost no chance unless I am with my brother in law who also rides everything once. OVERALL-21 AVG-4.2 It is definately a 4 since it was the worst coaster on my vacation, but still worth a ride and maybe even a second chance someday.

Well, I had to give it a shot. After hearing all of the negative things about TOGO stand ups, I had to try it. The short ride wasnt the worst part, nor was the roughness, nor the boring layout... I think the seat and restraint system was what killed the ride! The shoulder restraints were akward (kinda like putting on a vest) and pain-inducing at times in the ride, and the seat was not pleasant. As for the actual ride, it was ok, but could have been better. The first drop and loop wasnt too bad, but once the coaster started turning is where it got bad. That first helix was killer, and they should have provided Motrin. The little hills werent good either, again causing stress, this time in really unappreciated areas of the body. Some more turns and twists and some more boring, painful time on the ride and then the best part comes -- the return to the station to get off the damn ride! Overall, the layout was far from inspiring. I love a good stand up, but Shockwave was painful and boring to me. It wasnt intense (the fun type), it wasnt interesting, it wasnt smooth, nor was it comfortable. Basically, it wasnt a B&M, though even a B&M with that layout would be boring. Overall, it was a poor ride due to a multitude of reasons, but still worth a shot to give us all a greater appreciation of Mantis LOL

The only stand-up that I can say that I hate. Its a TOGO and it just looks painful and the trains look to be built in a minimalist fashion. People usually complain about neck and head banging on TOGOs and pain in the privates on stand-ups. I had neither of those problems but did experience immense pain in the shoulders. Also, there are few flats parts to the train floor making it almost impossible to ride properly with both feet flat on the floor. On the plus side the loop was smooth and the helixes were tight, however I couldnt enjoy it with the pressure on my shoulders.

Sorry Shockwave fans (if there are any), I really hated this ride. Probably one of the roughest coasters Ive ever been on along with King Cobra at PKI. Im baffled on how the Japanese can find these infamous TOGO coasters enjoyable. The only reason I even gave this ride a 5 was because Im sure it was a blockbuster atraction when it opened. I couldnt even enjoy the inversions, bunny hill things, or the sensation of a standing coaster it hurt that much. No fun, especially for developed males.

With me being the coaster fenatic I am, I take all roller coasters, big and small, and believe them to be THE BEST. As with shockwave, it was my first time on a stand up coaster. I thought, AWESOME, a stand up, lets ride. As CeffectX plainly stated, the waiting and boarding of the ride was horrendous, but I overlooked that, seeing that I LOVE coasters. While going up the lift hill, I was starting to dislike stand ups for its roughness. At the end, I almost vowed never to go on Stand ups again! I even thought that I wasnt going to go on Mantis in Cedar Point (but I did, great ride)! Total letdown, i would have given this a -10, but thats not an option. Stupid coaster...
