My second wooden coaster. When I rode this it totally blew me away. The airtime was great. It rough, but not too rough. The three sharp, banked turns were incredible. It has everything a wooden coaster should have! And thats what I like about it!
I actually really liked Hurler. The turns are wicked and, while they may beat you up a bit, its worth it. Theres tons of stand-up air on most if not all of the hills. Best of all, it was a walk-on. Better than Grizzly in my opinion.
Plenty of airtime on this ride but thats about it. I thought it was too predictable and not enough height. Not a thrilling ride at all.
A noble idea, but...
I have something against wooden coasters that try to do high speed turn arounds at ground level... they hit with so much speed that they beat you up severly (most notorious, Hercules turn over lake Dorney). Hurler does this twice! However, front seat rides are tolerable.
A decent wooden coaster with a unique layout and good speed, which suffers from some roughness, especially while going through the turns. I had an enjoyable experience on this ride, but not enjoyable enough to make me want to ride it a second time.
WOW, the roughest ride ever! but if u like the pea-nuts to be scared out of ya, this is the ride to do it! and watch the air-time, it can really be unexpected! decent wait to, i think mine was only 15 min.!
This is a rather odd coaster, with the turnarounds all low to the ground, and a bunch of low bunny hops. The hops have some nice air in them, but the turnarounds leave something to be desired, like some lateral forces. The ride seems tame to me, not like a typical woodie.
Hurler was one of those coasters thats good in the front, but painful in the back. As the Coney Island Cyclone is my home coaster, I understand laterals. I am perplexed as to how new coasters can pass the test when they ride as rough as this one did. It was a great looking coaster, but too rough to be at the top of any list - and lucky to be in the middle. I could have sworn this was a Dinn & Summers job, as their coasters are the absolute worst ever built due to the roughness of their tracks.
re-reviewed 4/17/03) Beautiful and unique design that seems to combine elements of CCI and GCIs best. Previous experience dictated that I ride the front seat to avoid getting beat up. The ride has great speed and uses it effectively on some greatly banked turns. Full of airtime. This one has improved with age.
Okay, but bumpy and not too thrilling.
This one has really good speed and its a long ride. One day its going to break and fly right into the woods!
