A good layout (with a neat twisint first drop) set in the deep woods makes this a very good coaster. Back seat rides can be a little on the rough side.
UPDATE: GREAT night time rides in the dark woods!
Not the best wooden Ive been on, but still very good, and the setting in the woods just adds a certain something. Nice action, not too rough, definitely a do for coaster fans.
This ride was the one I was most anticipating as I went into the park, and it did not disappoint. I am a fan of woodies, and this is the best I have been on so far. The lateral gs on this ride are incredible, and the tunnel was a great feature. Also, the seclusion of this ride greatly adds to the sense of mystery and adventure that surround it. Overall, this coaster was great fun, and I heartily recomend it to anyone looking for an awesome wooden roller coaster.
Nice coaster, but it needs work on the pacing, particually the first turnaround. The best part of the ride is the tunnel, which has some elements inside that completely catch you off guard. It also has a nice mixture of airtime and laterals, and the trains seemed to be running pretty well. The coasters location was great, but the night ride would be better without the spot lights in the back turns.
THE BEST WOODIE IN THE WORLD!!! i have yet to find a wooden coaster the even matches it. heres the story...i have never been afraid to ride rollercoasters, or just about any ride for the matter, but i heard stories about Grizzly, which were obviously not true but i was a kid what did i know! becasue of its awesome location, completely out of view of the passers-by on the streets of the park, i could never confirm or deny the rumors, so it has been the only rollercoaster i have ever acctually feared! but my first time riding it, it was on a wednesday so there were literally NO lines, i rode it once, in the front duh!, and after the very first like 10 seconds, my fear dissolved, and i have never been afraid of almost anything since then, especially coasters!!! i rode it 5 time consecutivly that day, i mean i didnt even get out of the seat and get back in line, didnt have to! RIDE IT, ull agree, really!
Grizzly had one of the best queues ever. The coaster remains a total mystery - even once in the station. I had read great things about this coaster and can only guess that this baby has seen better days. Then again it was designed by Curtis Summers. It was nice being over the trees, but this thing had no steam. The middle third was okay, but overall it was the same "beat up the rider" ride that I associate with Summers coasters.
re-reviewed (4/17/03) Better than my last visit. Grizzly kicked butt this year. After an anemic climb and turn out of the first drop, the coaster hauls through the rest of the course at an unrelenting pace. The ride is longer that youd think - but I think the first turnarounds slow pace accounts for it. Nice streak through tunnel adds to the excitement.
A little rough but I thoroughly enjoyed this ride.
Suprising, the best woodie Ive been on so far. Lots of fun...
The Grizzly is a Cub. The baby of wooden roller coasters. Take a short minute nap. What a sweet ride! Or 2 or 3 in a row.
It was ok but not too great. Fun though
