I was lucky to be around when Colossus opened back in the 70s and it was definitely a wild ride back then. I also rode it backwards several times in the 80s and loved every minute of it. I have not been on it in years. Im very sorry to hear that they added some brakes to the ride...but then again, Magic Mountain seems to be good at that. I have been disappointed with many of their steel coasters because of brakes. (i.e. Viper)
This coaster was pretty good. Not the best woodie I have riden, not the worst either (even though it is just a short walk away). The ride got kind of boring midway through, but it still had some nice views of Goliath.
All of you peole giving it less than a 5 are morons. This is a great ride. Its classic and riding it backwards is awsome. But you have to come during howloween to experience this. I advize you all to do that.
Great veiw of the mountains in the back. For the tallest wooden coaster on the west coast, it sure does go pretty slow. If it go just a little bit faster, it would be a very good ride. Anyone recognize it from STEP BY STEP, because I sure do!
SPEED IT UP! It could be great, and what a nice location.
I didnt have the pleasure to experience this ride in its hey-day, but now it is kind of bumpy but still offers some great thrills on the drops.
Fun, but destroyed after the double dip was replaced with a block brake. Next time youre in the parking lot, look at it. They just built the new track over it. The double dip is still in tact.
An underestimated coaster........................
I think this is a fun ride. The first two drops are nice. The rest of it is pretty boring, but its well worth riding and the lines are usually short.
A great woody and an awesome first drop. Still one of the best at magic mountain.
