Is Expedition Everest a world class coaster? No. But is it the typical Disney masterpiece? Yes, it is and then some. Well how could I not but mention the incredible mountain first and foremost. I was expecting it to be incredible, but Disney even surpassed my expectations as the attention to detail is unbelievable, especially the menacing Yeti encountered various times during the ride. Now as for the ride, it had its positives and negatives. It took quite a bit for the ride to pick up steam, and when I mean steam, become exciting. Once it started going backwards, I was thouroughly impressed as the ride traveled quite quickly and was amazingly smooth the whole ride. There were various sudden dips and turns throughout the ride, both forwards and backwards, but the ride just wasnt all that forceful even for a "big" Disney coaster. For me the highlight definitely has to be that impressive and very picturesque drop out of the mountain. I wasnt expecting any air during the ride, but that gave a nice sudden jolt of air that caught me off-guard. While an excellent coaster in terms of theming and a fun ride for sure, I was just hoping for a tad more intensity.

shag9004s review covers it all, but I just need to add in my vote that it is really, really fun. I avoided learning much about it so if I ever made it there, it would be a surprise. It was. Somehow, the Yeti didnt live up to my inflated expectations, but the course change got me. Sometimes its just the laughs that do it for me. It was truly enjoyable and unusual with excellent theming, and very little wait early in the day over spring break. But after projections (?) like Adventures of Spiderman, animatronics just arent enough in the 21st century, so not a ten.

Date Ridden: Dec. 31st of 2007. Times Ridden: 2 with once in the 3rd row from the front and once in the 2nd row from the back. Greetings to all after ringing in the new year in the Land of the Mouse. I am going to try to finish reviewing the Disney coasters within the next week as I have definitely had enough of Mickey, Donald, and the gang after visiting both sites in California and 3 of the 4 parks in Florida within the past 8 weeks. Ill start with Everest and the famous Yeti. To begin with, nobody beats Disney for capacity. We started off Animal Kingdom by doing Dino-land and easing our way back to Everest. We got our fast pass and then since the line only said 30 minutes decided to go ahead and ride it once. Within 20 minutes we were seated toward the rear of the train and ready. Later on when we used our fast pass we were on the ride in less than 1 minute as there was no one in the fast pass line. DIsney rules for capacty always and forever. As for the ride itself, I am hesitant to use the phrase "mine train" as the premise behind the ride is an expedition up to the top of Mount Everest that goes awry. Howver, the ride feel is similar to that of Big Thunder Mountain. I do not mean this in any bad way as I feel that Disney is the master of the mine train type of ride and this for some reason seems to have that type of feel particularly in the very slow beginning. However, theming is top notch and that slow beginning is necessary to what you will encounter later in the ride. The dual lift hills took the train up very high and from the front offer a great view between the mountain peaks at the point which the track has been destroyed by the Yeti who is angry over the lack of respect paid to his temple. This theming can be found all through-out the area surrounding the ride. After the first third of the ride is over and you take the backwards portion through a switchback on the track and into the mountain itself, it begins getting a little more intense. The backwards potion stops you in the mountain where you can see the cut scene of the Yeti which is just a little too cartoonish. Still, its very fun to watch and leads into the third and final leg of the trip which includes the dive down past the Yeti himself. This creature is absolutely amazing as he seems very lifelike and extremely angry. Tha back of the train is better at this portion as you get a little better look at him while zooming past. So anyway, whats the deal. Everest as a ride rates out as a 7 but gets a bump up for theming and the creature itself. When riding, try the front of the car first to see the views at the end of the first portion and then try any car toward the back giving you a longer view of the beast at the end of the ride. Disney coasters are always less about thrills and more about the experience itself. In this case, the formula works as the Mouse has a great ride at one of the weaker Disney parks. Everest gets a solid 8 from me and ranks # 2 behind California Screamin as my favorite Disney coaster. Coming up later this week will be a review of one of my greatest experiences on a theme park ride EVER. And no, its not even a coaster.

This ride is the best ride in Animal Kingdom. Expedition Everest is a roller coaster that goes forwards and backwards. Its a fun ride but I think they need it to be a lot longer and have maybe a flip or corkscrew going backwards and when your upside down you get your picture taken. The only reason it got a nine instead of a ten is because the ride is not long enough to fulfill my expectations. The Yeti looks so real it is just crazy what Disney can create. 12/18/07 A 44 year old man died on E.E. He was found unresponsive and unconscious.

By far the best ride at Animal Kingdom. The mountain looks incredible and all of the animatronics, especially the giant yeti at the end that caught me by surprise. All of the drops were very fast and a majority of them were pretty sudden, especially the giant curving drop out of the mountain and all of the backwards segments were excellently incorperated into the ride to make one heck of a coaster.

This is by far the best themed coaster. The lines move quickly, the trains and restraints are comfortable, the ride is smooth, and provides plenty of thrills. The helix in the reverse section is my favorite part of the ride. The first time I rode Expedition Everest that helix took me by surprise! Oh yeah and the Yeti is cool too!

It was good, the line was too long almost making it not worth it

With the resources Disney has, this should be a much better ride. It seems as if all the thought and money has gone behind the exterior of the mountain and the quality animatronic. Outside that, its a short and lacks any sort of good pace that a story based ride should. What little of ride there actually is is not bad, but the "climax" seems like what should be a buildup.

Ride Themeing is second only to Tower of terror, the ride itself is moderately thrilling...one of the best family attractions at disney.
