Okay, you may want to take my review with a grain of salt. I love coasters, but Im not one to debate the intricacies of them. Discuss with me the number of inversions, type of inversions, type of restraints, and Ill stare at you like youve got a third eye in the middle of your face. All I ask myself afterwards is: Did I have fun? And to what extent did I have fun?

Given that...this ride is a blast. The launch is unreal. The first second, youre flying. The next, youre feeling like you cant go any faster. The next, you *are* going faster.

In fact, the speed disorients you so much, youll be 3/4 of the way to the summit without realizing it. The train just barely gets through the top hat when you get to my favorite part of the ride.

Thats the split-second where the train is looking straight down from 456 feet up. The launch was reason enough to go on the ride, but this was icing on the cake.

Ive heard reviews on this board from people who say their view was obstructed by the supports. I guess it all depends on what youre focusing on, because all I saw was the ground looking as if it were a million miles away. The view was thrilling, to put it mildly.

I was too busy pulling my spleen from my throat to even notice the bunny hop. When this ride was over, I knew only one thing: I had to go on again. I got right back in line.

I rode with Kowrip (see his review), so I can second the notion that the 2nd row in car 1 offers a great view with none of the negatives that come from sitting in row 1.

What can I say, except:

Its the Kingda-Ka!
There is no higher!
Sucker rollercoasters
Will call it Sire!

I finally got a chance to ride this thing twice this past Saturday. Both rides were in the second row. The overall scenery and appearance of the ride station is very good. I was very impressed by its appearance. The launch is absolutely unreal. Ive been on several LIM launched coasters and also on Storm Runner, but KKs launch blows the others away. The launch is arguably the best part of the ride. The ascent up the hill was so-so. Cresting the top of the hill and starting the descent is an awesome rush ! The view is great and the height is unreal. The spiral was also excellent. It adds a great touch to a very simple ride. The bunny hill, as expected, was so-so. At that point in the ride, it doesnt really add any significant excitement. Overall, the ride experience was excellent. The launch alone is worth going on this ride. Also, the restraints did NOT take away from the ride experience. These restraints that are used on KK and also Storm Runner are way different and much better than other OTSR restraints. I think a major factor in how riders rate this experience will be the wait time. I got to the park at 9:30 with my brother. Our main objective for the day was to only spend about 3 hours in the park and ride KK at least once .... twice if possible. We completed the first ride by 10:30 and the second one by 12:00. After our 2nd ride, the wait was well over 2 and 1/2 hours. In 2 hours we managed to get 2 rides on this record breaking coaster. We also got rides on Medusa and Nitro before leaving for the day. So, we both had a very favorable opinion of the ride. However, if we had arrived at 12:00 when the line was close to 3 hours long, I would not have had the same opinion. The ride experience is outstanding, but I would seriously consider planning out the rides like we did or use the Fast Lane. Another recommendation is to ride in the second row. The even rows are raised about 4-5 inches higher than the rows in front of them. So, by riding in the 2nd row, you get a clear view of the track just as if you were in the front car but without the extra wait time !

A couple points: I didnt dock the ride for it, but be aware that it has mechanical issues and briefly/frequently closes down to cool the engines. Also, if youre wondering "is it worth paying extra money for that Q-bot thing that lets you reserve a spot in line?" the answer is "you bet." OK, so, how was Kingda Ka? Id describe it thusly... :jawdrop: Yowza. It towers over everything in the park and looks uber-scary from the ground. Everyone seems amazed/scared of it. I saw one guy get off and kiss the ground. The opening acceleration is 0-120 in something like 3 seconds, and is breathtaking in every sense of the word. Then the climbing up (and up and up) and the big drop. Both of which are wholly vertical. Oddly those parts are much fun, and not too scary --- personally, I could see the track in front of me, but not all the way up or down. My friends + I came off laughing, in a "we escaped death" kind of way. Its a short ride - less than a minute, but for pure power and adrenaline rush, coasters dont get much better.

I finally had the chance to ride yesterday and it was a blast. One my first ride in the second to last row, I found the launch to be shaky. The launch just wasnt very smooth, but when I took my second ride from the second row the launch was much smoother and felt a lot more forceful. I was surprised that exceleration on the first launch did not feel as fast, maybe it feel feels faster when the wind is hitting your face. I did not notice much air on the bunny hill, so quite honestly to me there isnt much of a difference between KK and TTD regarding the actual ride. I love how SFGAdv has themed the Golden Kingdom, but the Top Thrill Dragster motif is perfect for this type of ride.

This ride suffers from being over in less than a minute but this fault is worth over looking because the minute is great. The launch is exhilarating as is the spiral down. The "bunny hill" gets real airtime. Although to date the ride has been unreliable, when it does work the line moves fast and the ride operaters seem motivated to make this a fast loader. The clever overhead restraints prevent headbanging and permit larger riders to sit comfortably. The best ride is in the front where you get the full brunt of the wind in your face.

Very good launch coaster. I rode this back on the opening weekend and i meant to put in a review then but i never did. Luckily i got to the park early and i got on the ride in 20 minutes but when i got off the ride I was planing to ride it again but man that line was huge!!! when i got in the line it was already in the station but it still took 20 minutes anyway because it was breaking down all the time but this line was at least 6 hours. anyway, enough about the line, this ride was well themed (unusual for a six flags ride) and the launch was just insane. They let you out of the station and then u go up to the launch pad. Then i waited there.. and then waited some more then i heard a horn go off and i was ready to hold on tight and get ready to go fast but.. we didnt launch. I was like wait.. then BOOM! we launchd straight down the track then up then down the drop which was kinda disapointing, but a good drop non the less then over the next hill then into the station. I dont think I blinked once from launch to finish. Very good luanch ride.

Well, I went to Six Flags and was pretty much going there all for one reason... this monster. When you go into the park, you could see this green coaster from all around it. The queue is elaborately decorated when you go inside, and theres some cool jungle music in here (im really impressed with the golden kingdom as well). I got on this twice... the first time only a 20 minute wait, and the second time an hour. As you get into the seat (i was in the second row) and lurch up to the launchpad, things get a little nervewracking. Then you hear the loud siren, and you know this means to keep your head back. Lalala... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Thats exactly whats its like. Count to three and then inhale, because you wont be able to breathe until the ride is over... The launch is the most incredible thing ive ever experienced, and the pull up gives some awesome gs. On the launch, you cant breathe, scream, or open your eyes (at least I couldnt)... the speed is insane. Then you crest the hill... well almost. "What the heck? Im going backwards!" was the quote my dad made... we went back into the brakes... we heard the siren again, and launched another time. Wow just as crazy as the first time. We finally made it over the hill, and you will remember the view up there until your dieing day. Then the spiral comes... duck, because the supports are inches away from your head (or so it seems), and before you know it, youre going 100+ again... Still cant see much, but then you rocket over the last airtime filled hill and it stops dead... the most intense ride I was ever on. Wow. Its only flaw is its ride time. only 25 seconds after the launch (I was lucky; I got a rollback).

This is a great coaster, and you shouldnt miss it. Nitro still tops it as the best ride in the park, but its still awesome.

WOW! Since I am a season pass holder I went on a Kingda Ka Friday and had a ten minute wait at nine in the morning. I got front row and was excited. Four trains is incredible. The Launch made my stomach go all the way to the stunned Cedar Point people that lost the record again. Going up I was like HELL YA. On the way down all you see is the road and people were screamin and yellin. After that the camelback felt like a breeze and the turn in ended it. That was SO DARN AWESOME. It was nice and smooth with some good air on the camelback. Definitly the best ride in the world. Plan early if you are not a season pass cause you will have a two to four hour wait. Its Incredible and I suggest every coaster fanatic all over the world to ride it. My stomach is still gone. I went on ten times after that!!!!

WOW! that launch was so awsome! it just makes me want to ride it again and again! The drop wasnt as intense as i thought it was gonna be, but it was intense non the less, and that spiral kind of blocks your view down to the ground when your dropping, so i didnt really see how far up i was. I would have rode it again so i could look left and down when i got up there, but it was like a 6 hour wait. im gonna try to get on it again the next time i go there. Anyway, i rode it the saturday it was open to the public, and there were so many problems! every 5 minutes, sorry folks we have techincal difficulty, once i got to the station i was so excited, and it seemed like i was gonna ride it in like 15 minutes after i waited for about 2 hours, but it turned out to be another 2 and a half hour wait and i was already in the station! problem after problem. and there were so many line cutters it was unbeleivable. Hopefully they will fix all those problems within the next month. Anyway, when i finally got in the car, there was a problem so i sat there for another 10 minutes in the car, then finnaly it was fixed, and they sent us out and we went slowly to the launch pad and we waited another minute. I thought there was another problem when i heard the horn sound and i was like o my god here we go and BAM we launched off and up the 456 ft. tower and it was the best thing i ever experienced on a coaster. If youre goin to great adventure any time soon, this ride should be first on your list! again amazing coaster.
